We love a good soundbar here at Audio Affair. Ever since their inception they’ve been the ultimate hybrid product: bringing together AV and hi-fi, film and music, in one compact little package.
We also love Yamaha’s new multiroom system: MusicCast, which allows for an interlinking web of multiple types of devices to work together in perfect harmony (a completely unique system, and virtually without competition so far!)
What do you get when you put those two wonderful things together?
Well, you get a MusicCast Soundbar. You get… the Yamaha YSP-1600 Digital Sound Projector!
This is doubly (well, triply!) exciting too, as Yamaha are the world’s leaders in midrange soundbars. Their models are firm favourites among critics and clients alike, and now one has found its way into a revolutionary new multiroom system… well. Frankly, we’re thrilled!
So, aside from the obvious, what makes this latest installment in a long line of successful soundbars so great?
Well, it offers wireless playback, and well as a variety of streaming services such as Spotify (amongst many others!). And, because it’s MusicCast, you can stream though it via any other MusicCast unit from anywhere in the house (providing it’s on the same wireless network).
And yes, it follows in the footsteps of the other Yamaha Sound Projectors in terms of sound (as well as experience) too. It carries the same unique technology which allows for a sound that isn’t virtual surround sound, it’s actual surround sound.
We’ll let Yamaha explain..
“Eight 2.8cm (1-1/8”) high quality array speakers create beams of sound that are precisely time- and direction controlled using digital signal processing. The sound reflects off the walls, enveloping you in true surround sound. Beam positions can be adjusted using the remote control or a smartphone app, allowing many people to enjoy the realistic, expansive sound.”
The result is a truly immersive experience, and is perfect for the kind of setup which doesn’t lend itself to a more traditional surround sound approach. And let’s face it, space is precious!
Some say soundbars, while good for AV, don’t tend to cut it in the pure music department. But over the last few years, that has become less and less true. Particularly when it comes to Yamaha. With each release, the sound gets closer and closer to pure, lush high fidelity. And that is certainly the case with the latest offering.
All of that, plus MusicCast. Oh Yamaha, you spoil us!
Got any questions about the Yamaha MusicCast system and all of its parts, then give us a shout! We have done our homework, and we’re pretty excited about the whole thing. Multiroom is the future, and MusicCast is the next installment.
