Some wins you see coming, some wins you don’t. And some you don’t… but as soon as their name is announced, you understand completely. That’s how we felt when we witnessed the unbelievably cute Audio Pro AddOn T3 win the “Best Portable Wireless Speaker £100-£200” at the What Hi-Fi? 2015 Awards. A relative newcomer, and certainly the underdog, we didn’t know an awful lot about the pint-sized retro-looking speaker. But once we paid it the attention it so rightly deserved, its win was somewhat obvious!
So, what did this little underdog have the the other speakers in the category didn’t? Well, it’s pretty safe to say: everything! Okay okay, that might be a little harsh. As I said, we weren’t expecting this little unit to win, but win it did. And looking at the features available, it’s actually a wonder as to why the win came as such a surprise!
What do you want from a portable wireless speaker? Well, you want portability and wireless-ness (of course) which means you need two things: compactness and a decent battery life. Well, the AddOn T3 has both of those things in abundance. It’s tiny and lightweight, and has what may quite possibly be the best battery life in the market. It’s designed to be played, and played for a very long time. At full power it will easily last 12 hours (solid) and at half power will last 30 – and potentially more! So confident are Audio Pro in this little speaker that they are actively encouraging you to charge your phone with it via its USB port!
But what really makes the T3 a winner is that – despite its incredible functionality – the sound doesn’t suffer. Quite the opposite, in fact. Now, this is where things lose their surprise a little. Audio Pro has a speciality, and have done since they first appeared on the scene in the late 70s. They know how to make small speakers (in this case, tiny speakers!) sound… big. Very big. This little speaker blew us away (especially when we found out how cheap it was!) much like it did the What Hi-Fi? 2015 judges. It boasts a big, clear detailed sound with a strong bass and a very pleasing finish, far exceeding both the size, and the price.
And just for the purposes of vanity, it’s pretty cute too. The five finishes manage to bridge the gap between retro and contemporary with real finesse. Basically, this is a speaker that sounds great, looks great and will last far (far!) longer than any of its competitors without missing a note. All you need is your corresponding device and a bit of sunshine, and this speaker will provide the party.
Want to know more? Then give us a shout! We’ve become pretty big fans since the awards and have plenty of knowledge to share.

Hi, I’m used to carrying round the Logic3 Jivebox, which is very old now, but it was the only portable sound system with a built in sub woofer – it’s broken now 🙁
Anyway, this product has come across my research – sound quality is a must. I don’t know any shops that sell it so can’t test it out myself, however I did listen to the Bose SoundTouch 20 (£270-£350) how does it compare to that ?
thats nice but i have it for sale and its in mint condition if you want to get it just contact me on my email. ok. dm5004338@gmail.com
