Fathers’ Day is on June the 19th this year (yep, this year really is flying by!) and if you’re anything like myself and my colleagues at AA HQ, you’ve left the gift-buying until the last minute. Thankfully, there are some great last minute options available to you, especially when you’re a part of the Audio Affair community!
We are adding new ideas to our gift section all the time. The kind of stuff that meets our very high quality standards, but is also amazing value for money, with our UK exclusives (products and prices) list growing year on year. Frankly, now is the best time ever to get your dad something special from us. You’ll be in his good books for the rest of the year, and not break the bank in the process. Does your dad love his music and/or AV? Then look no further. And hey, he would probably like some of this stuff for his birthday too!
please also end each section by saying if that product doesnt take your fancy, there are many different items in the category the products from (and link to it) …make it clear also these are good for birthdays as well as fathers day (so it doesnt date the blog straight away after 19th, although we can always change the title then to include birthday instead of fathers day)
Gifts under £100
This is where the great value gifts (that will never betray their actual price!) live. And the undisputed King of them all is the Yamaha NX-50 (RRP £99.95, now £49.90!) Why so cheap? Well, this is a UK exclusive deal – you can only buy these at this price from us. They are brand new and sealed with a full warranty. They may be cheap in price, but they’re a million miles away from the cheap ‘plastic’ speakers typically associated with the desktop. They sound great, they look great and they’re tiny to boot. Pick your dad’s favourite colour and tell him to give his old desktop speakers to charity. These will be better.
Don’t like those? There’s plenty more stuff under £100 to chose from. Have a browse!
Gifts under £500
We only sell very high quality products, the kind of gear that’s designed to last. For all the stuff that we couldn’t fit in for under £100, you will find here. Cherry picked by our staff members as perfect presents for music-lovers of all levels. There is lots of more advanced hi-fi specific stuff in this category (have a good look through) but we’re aware that many of your Dads won’t have the kind of system that would benefit from the speakers, headers and cinema gear in there. But, if he does enjoy music and has a good collection of vinyl in the loft, then we’d highly recommend the TEAC LPR-500. It’s one of the best combined systems on the market, playingL vinyl, cassettes and CDs. And as an added bonus, he can even copy his vinyl and cassettes to CD with it!
Although, we are hi-fi specialists and the TEAC isn’t technically hi-fi (although, it is very close!) we have to recommend the HiFi Man HE-400S as excellent hi-fidelity headphones for under £500. Remember to check out the rest of the category too!
Gifts over £500
And we’re into luxury territory. As with anything hi-fi, it’s always possible to go higher. If you really want to your impress Dad, something from this category would certainly do the trick. As always, there’s lots of stuff in there that requires an existing system, but there are a few standalone gifts that work by themselves. The Naim Mu-So QB at £595 is one of those, and definitely a favourite of ours. This is a smaller, more compact version of Naim’s larger Mu-So (which we also have in stock) but certainly no less impressive. It’s cute, compact and will fit comfortably into any space (it’s bigger brother a little less so!) and will do everything a wireless all-in-one music system could ever do. Beautifully.
Gifts for Home Cinema Fans
Who doesn’t love movies? I bet your dad does. And if not, I bet he does he enjoy watching sports. Or TV. Or maybe he’s a gamer? For any of these activities, great quality sound through his TV screen will transform those experiences into something truly special .It’s the kind of thing that is now far more accessible than it used to be, thanks to the likes of soundars and bases. The Roth Audio NEO 6.2 SoundCore Sound Base is something worth your attention. At time of writing we have the best UK price for the black version: £219 down from the RRP of £349. It’s a base which sits under your TV, but otherwise looks and acts much like a bar. Not quite right? There’s plenty more stuff for home cinema lovers in that catagory. Have a good look!
Gifts for Headphones Listeners
Headphones make excellent gifts – they’re the kind of thing everyone can enjoy, and find a god use for. We sell all sorts of high quality wireless bluetooth headphones from £149, but the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Over Ear Wireless Headphones are among our favourites for gifts. They have that extra wow factor for a Fathers’ Day surprise. But don’t forget to have a good look around before you make up your mind!
Gifts for Vinyl Lovers
Does your Dad have a large collection of vinyl? Does he enjoy finding used records in record stores and at record fairs? Or perhaps he has a large collection gathering dust in the loft? For Dad’s like this, this is the ultimate gift, and something that will bring countless years of joy. The Pro-Ject VCS record cleaning machine is the most advanced record cleaning machine money can buy he most effective best value way you can clean records, cleaning out dust, dirt, stains or anything else apart from deep scratches on the surface of a record. It even looks the part: built like a battleship! Are there cheaper ways to get the job done? Sure. But they’re messy and far less effective. If your dad loves vinyl, and you love your dad. This is the ultimate vinyl gift. And it comes with lots of lovely accessories too, so he’ll never be short!
Not quite the right thing? Don’t worry, there’s plenty more gift ideas in that catagory, for plenty of prices.
