Vinyl is getting more and more accessible as time goes on. As true vinyl lovers, we couldn’t be happier with that. And the fact that new features are being incorporated into the most traditional method of listening to recorded music makes us happier still. On that note, I would like to introduce…

… the Audio Technica AT-LP60BT Bluetooth Turntable. All you need to know about this new addition to the analogue family is two things: budget… and Bluetooth.

This is a turntable that manages to be both of those things, and still remains a fantastic piece of high quality kit. It’s only £169, despite it coming from a brand which commands a traditionally higher price tag, and that’s not all it can offer.

As it is, in essence, a beginners turntable (although it doesn’t operate or sound like one, which will be a relief to those who want to know what it sounds like) it comes complete with a built-in phono stage. This means it is semi-plug and play, and doesn’t require a separate amplifier like the vast majority of turntables do. Connect directly to either active speakers, or a separate amplifier… and away you go.

It looks the part – available in black or white – and the addition of Bluetooth is clever. It will hook up to any Bluetooth speaker you desire. However, you can still connect to active speakers that don’t feature Bluetooth if you wish. We can recommend the ever-impressive (and also budget-friendly) Yamaha NX-50 active desktop speakers and still enjoy vinyl playback in its pure analogue form, all-the-while streaming music from your Bluetooth device. You can set it up anywhere in the house and still enjoy the music, something pretty much unheard of in the analogue world.

The Audio Technica AT-LP60BT may well be the most convenient turntable we’ve stumbled upon in terms of both features and price, and makes an excellent gift for any music lover (of any level). But what is most striking about it is the build quality. For £169, you get an anti-resonance, die-cast aluminium platter as well as an integral AT Dual MM phono cartridge complete with a fully replaceable diamond stylus. This is not a turntable that will break upon seventh use (or beyond), it will last as long as you let it, and will give you countless hours of convenient analogue enjoyment,

Budget. Bluetooth. Turntable. Three beautiful words, one beautiful price.
