Music streaming is now considered by most (even many hi-fi purists) to be a serious music source, just as much as vinyl or CD. Streaming music has come a long way since mp3; the latest streaming formats offer much better sound quality than ever before, in many cases high resolution or lossless and music streaming services like Tidal’s “hifi” option make high quality streaming easier than ever before.

In addition to these advancements in the "software" of streaming, the "hardware" (hi-fi to you and me) has progressed significantly as well and there is a greater choice of equipment available than ever - including hi-fi separates streamers, smaller network players (giving you direct access to Spotify or Tidal controlled from your phone, tablet or laptop) , wireless Bluetooth or Airplay receivers and more.

In addition to the aformentioned Tidal, there are lots of other streaming options like Spotify, Apple Music and websites like HD Tracks where you can download high res releases of albums or individual tracks.

Our streaming blogs will cover a range of topics related to hi-fi streaming, including streaming equipment, technology overviews (e.g. what is AptX bluetooth), music storage solutions like CD rippers and NAS drives and as much as we have time for some features on individual albums in our "sound bites" series.
