Following on from last month’s incredibly successful Valve Amp Open Day, this month followed the Music Server and Streaming Extravaganza !

With so many new models having been released this year, no other venue could have featured this dazzling array of tech.

Featured models were:

Olive 2
Olive 3HD
Olive 4HD
Olive 6HD
Ripnas
Zoneripper
Sonos PLAY:3
Yamaha NPS2000
Musical Fidelity M1 Clic

With so many Olive models to choose from, visitors were overwhelmed with choice ! The Olive 3 proved to be the most popular model based on features and its very tempting price ! The Olive 6 with its built in wireless and monster touch screen was a real show stopper for all who gazed at it in awe. Speed of ripping and ease of use were many of the comments of the afternoon with even the most discerning listener unable to tell the difference between the original and the copy in our blindfold test.

The star of the day was a close run contest between the Yamaha NPS2000 and the M1 Clic. Both products battled it out both exhibiting superb sonics and unrivalled features at their respective price points. The M1 Clic having only just arrived this week in to the UK was the reason many people across the Midlands had got out of bed that morning ! Demand had been overwhelming and having tinkered around with the gorgeous menus on offer we could see why. The M1 Clic offers seemless streaming from any music source and its inbuilt wireless made set up a doddle. The NPS2000 showed just how good Yamaha is at anything it puts its name too. The Pure Sound billing of this player made for a truly breathtaking soundstage, customers were amazed at the weight and build quality – a real hifi heavyweight ! Set up was amazingly versatile whilst offering the hifi purists balanced XLR outputs as well as RCA to handle any music source. After much deliberation it was the M1 Clic that triumphed and became the must have product of the day !

Our final open day: Turntables Open Day – 20th August
