The Focal Sopra range has enjoyed immense popularity so far with the No. 1 and No. 2 ranges – so it was only a matter of time before there was a new addition to the Sopra family. A high end and rather exquisite addition, as you will see…

There we have it, in its five glorious finishes: the Focal Sopra No. 3 Speakers. High end and yes, high priced, yet worth every penny.

The first speaker within the Sopra range came out just over 12 months ago. It began with the lower-end (for this range) Sopra No. 1 bookshelf speaker (£6599) which was followed by the Sopra No. 2 floorstanding model (£9599). Both of these are on demo in our showroom, and you can read a little bit more about them in our previous blog on both of these models. But this time, our focus is this new model which has been proudly declared the Sopra Flagship.

This is a much larger speaker (Dimensions (HWD): 1264 x 402 x 595mm) all-round than the Sopra 2 (Dimensions (HWD): 1190 x 358 x 540mm) and it goes right down to 26Hz (as opposed to the 28Hz of the Sopra No2) with all other areas of performance vastly improved. They are bigger, they are beefier, and they’re likely to be the next best thing to the Focal Utopia We have yet to listen to them ourselves, but the initial reports have been enough to whet our appetites about the what their various advances (such as the neutral inductance circuit, the tuned mass damper and the infinite horn loading) have promised.

To compliment the No. 3, Focal have also released a matching Sopra centre speaker and a Sopra subwoofer! All of this will be available very soon, as the makings of of an unbeatable 5.1 speaker system. Expect a blog on that too, when the times comes. We’ll be updating as to what all of the new Sopras sound like too, once we’ve recovered from the experience ourselves! We’re expecting the whole set up to work together, as well as a part. Imagine if you will the No.2 on rears as part of 5.1 setup… or  both the No. 1 and No. 2 on rear as a 7.1 speaker system! The ultimate audio component of the ultimate AV set up? Watch this space.

Now, back to the No. 3. They’re more expensive than the No. 2s, but you need to remember you’re getting much closer to the hugely expensive Utopia in level of performance, the Utopia being nothing short of a life-changing audio experience. And – as always – they’re more affordable on our 0% finance options with deposits starting from only 10%!

At this level, the main competitor for Sopra is the KEF Reference range, however the flagship Reference 5 floorstander is more of a competitor to the Sopra No. 2. the No. 3 is more of a competitor to Blade 2 which, at £16,000 is almost exactly the same price!

We’ll keep you in the loop with these. If you’d like a pair for yourself you can arrange a listen. Check out the full listing (and get even more excited) by clicking here.
