For the past few years, the iPhone dominated the mobile phone industry. With their latest model iPhone 4, we’ve still not seen any major development changes to the music capabilities, it is after all the system which made Apple famous. It plays various audio format files including MP3, VBR, AAC and WAV. Play time on some devices can be as high as 24 hours.
And not forgetting by putting one of these into an Apple compatible docking station amplifier, the quality of the sound shoots rocket high.
With iPhone 5 rumoured to release later this year, we are speculating its improvements on the ease of accessing music, playback and quality of the music.
Apple boss Steve Jobs recently announced the new iCloud service which is due to launch this fall. The iCloud’s main feature is the inclusion of iTunes. Allowing users to download previously purchased music from iTunes to all of their iOS devices (such as the new iPhone 5) at no additional cost. If you have music from elsewhere, it can be synced and matched for $25 per year.
For the sound quality, we believe iPhone 5 could feature a more sophisticated EQ setting, possibly a bass control. Making the new iPhone 5 compatible with some of the major iPod docks is also essential. Having said that, it is looking very unlikely there will be any dramatic changes to its music software, there are no mentions of iPod related features for the latest iOS5 version.

I’m looking forward to seeing if the iPhone 5 improves on older models. Hopefully it’ll still be compatable with my Wadia 171i.
