We pride ourselves on showcasing everything both the hi-fi and AV worlds have, from the great value through to the ludicrously and lavishly expensive. Well, I’m happy to report, that today we’re focusing on the latter. Although ludicrous is probably the wrong word. Yes, this particular system is expensive, but my my it’s worth every pound.

… all 25,000 of them.

kef-ref-5-5.1

That is the KEF Reference 5 5.1 Package, and yes it costs £25k. Well, £24,495 to be more precise, but we like our numbers round and our systems loud.

So, you’re probably wondering what a 25K home cinema speaker package, consists of! Well, let me tell you:

– x2 Reference 5 (on the front)

– x1 Reference centre speaker

– x1 Reference subwoofer

– x2 Reference 1 (on the rear)

It’s a package that makes perfect sense if you think about it, and we already thought about it some time ago, In fact, we already had this very set-up on demo in our showroom, matched with our idea of the Home Cinema dream team: an Anthem MRX720 AV Receiver (£2899) and with separate power amps, an Oppo BDP 105D Blu Ray Player (£1099), a  JVC DLA-X5000 projector (£3999) and, last but not least, a 120″ 9ft Grandview screen (£1200). Add in the necessary cables and this is a system costs over £35,000. If our research is correct, this makes our carefully crafted home cinema set up quite probably the finest home cinema system setup available for demo in the Midlands.

So. A KEF Reference 5 5.1 home cinema package. You’d probably imagine that sounds pretty good, right? Well, I can confirm it sounds absolutely incredible! And the rest of the set-up compliments this incredible sound perfectly. The JVC projector is renowned for its deep blacks and excellent colours and the Grandview does a great job of showcasing this. The Anthem is a perfect partner for the KEF speakers. With separate power amps backing up the receiver and the speakers, the overall effect that can only be described as big, grand and huge! Yes, they all technically mean the same thing, but it’s definitely worth repeating.

So far we’ve watched: Mission Impossible, Rogue Nation, Blade Runner, the Die Hard movies, and a selection of others (it’s tough being an Audio Affair Team Member, we can’t lie!), all of which are old favourites and we’ve never heard sounding so good.

The huge (and somewhat obvious) benefit with this system, (aside from the above) is that the Reference 5 speakers are amazingly versatile stereo speakers and the Anthem sounds stunning, whether you use it with movies or music. Once you have this system in your life, you won’t need another.

While we are (again, quite obviously) very proud of our rather expectational 35K set-up, there are several other options at this price point that you should be aware of that we are also planning on exploring. For instance, there’s now Focal Sopra 5.1 setup (now a centre and sub have been added to the range) which will cost over £20k for the speakers alone. We also sell a 7.2 version of this KEF Reference setup…  although its costs £38k for speakers alone.

This is the kind of thing that offers a multitude of options. We can even offer in-wall and hidden/semi hidden options from KEF and recently sold a package containing their THX speakers which is far less expensive than the Reference setup this blog is trying to be about, but still cost in excess of £10k. The point is, at this level we serve to find a solution that suits your room, lifestyle and requirements. Its not as simple as picking a selection of boxes and putting them together. Which is the point I am ultimately trying to make. Yes, our package (including the gorgeous Reference Speaker package) is one of those options, but at this level it’s really worth testing the water, and finding the right combination for you.

If you become our client at this level, we will be visiting and setting everything up for you, making it incredibly simple. Unless, of course, you want to do everything yourself. But until that day comes, let’s make sure we have the right gear for you. Please pop in for a demo on this stunning 5.1 system now – or speak to us for further advice. You won’t regret it, even if it doesn’t go beyond a day spent in our showroom with our £35K system.

It’s a good way to spend a day.
