Now, it’s worth pointing out that this is not a cheap system. But it is, on many levels, an investment. An investment in your lifestyle, in your home and in the way that you live your life. Music is, indeed, a very big part of it… but it’s not the only part.
Take, for instance, the physicality. The system is compromised of the Linn Akurate Exakt DSM with fully integrated Aktiv Exakt Akudorik bookshelf speakers, which basically means the amps are in the speaker stands (none-detachable) and are completed with a single all-in-one single box hifi unit catering to streaming and everything else you’d expect from a one-box source. It’s a gorgeous system which ticks every box, and brings an added element of convenience to something that is, by its very nature, a very convenient thing.
There’s a lot to talk about with the Linn Exakt Akudorik system. It’s the kind of thing that requires a full (and preferably in person demo) in order to fully convey the vast array of features and benefits. When you experience it in the flesh, you understand why it’s not cheap, and why it never will be cheap. What you’re actually paying for is a perfectly tuned and expertly aligned matching of system and speakers. Components which exist entirely to compliment eachother in the most harmonious way. But there is one key thing that makes this system stand head and shoulders above its competitors.
Traditonally, the positioning of the speakers was paramount to the overall effect of the music. In order for there to be a “sweet spot” – i.e. a location in the room in which the sound is fully optimised. This means that the speakers have to be positioned in such a way that it benefits the sound, and not necessarily the room.
Linn, in accordance with their philosophy, have found a way around that with their Space Optimisation technology, which essentially “tunes” the speakers themselves for the space they sit within, allowing you to place them somewhere more convenient for you. This, in essence, allows for you to “hear the music, and not the room”. Every room has a “sound” of sorts, and this is a technology capable of bypassing it.
This technology isn’t exclusive to the Exakt Akudorik System, or even to Linn. In the spirit of inclusivity, Linn have released the technology enabling you to “tune” other speakers from other manufacturers in the same way. But, quite frankly, there’s not beating the sound of a system designed to work that way, to sound that way, together as the designers intended.
It’s… an experience. Something which words alone cannot describe. Something which can be, and often is, boiled down to the phrase: “right”.
