In the world of hi-fi, it often happens that a product is so so good, that it remains the flagship (or simply in the range) for a very long time. But just because something is too good to replace, doesn’t mean it’s not too good to improve upon. Heck, nothing is! Oppo knew this, and they knew which of their products they didn’t wnat to ‘change’ yet could still be improved upon. And what do you do in that situation? You pass your treasured models on to an approved company for modification, and what comes out the other end is absolutely mind blowing.
Now, the question is… what did Oppo pick for modification? Three things, all of which considered best in play (by all necessary players) and all available through us today.
Starting with…
Oppo BDP-105D Reference & Signature
Now, the BDP-105D is Oppo’s flagship blu ray player and one of the best “go to” reference blu ray players on the market, so it made sense that this would be the first to get the Ref/Sig treatment. It sells for £1099 in standard form (which is available in both black and silver, take your pick!) and we now have both the “Reference” (also in black, and in silver) for £2399 and the “Signature” version (you guessed it, in black and in silver!) for £3399. Aside from the slightly limited colour options, there are plenty of advances made on both of those models. To find out what they are, we suggest you click through and take a look…
If that seems a little rich for you blood then don’t worry, there are other modified options available…
Oppo BDP-103D Reference & Signature
The BDP 105D (in all of its versions and colours!) is amazing, but it’s also expensive. Oppo knew this before the modified versions came into being, and answered with a slightly scaled back model. The BDP103D – a more affordable version at £599 yet still high end enough to make a splash. And yes, this got the modification treatment too. Twice! The Reference version can be found at £1399, and the Signature at £2049. Click through if you’re curious!
It wouldn’t be an Oppo blog without mention of the awesome HA-1, one of the best headphone amplifiers in the world! And yes, this was selected for special treatment too. Enter, the Special Edition Oppo HA-1 SE (in both black and silver this time – it was only available in black before so this is pretty nifty!), which has taken something considered ‘the best’, and made it better. So. Much. Better.
Now, there was a reason why these three models were chosen. They were already immensely popular (for all the right reasons) in their standard form. These modified versions have been designed exclusively to extract every last bit of performance and quality, and by ours (and Oppo’s) estimations, they are significant improvements. And don’t worry, while Oppo didn’t modify them themselves, they are all approved by them. So you know it’s going to be good.
Curious? Well, you should be! Get in touch to find out a bit more, and maybe even try them out for yourself. Make sure you read up on the models too!
