Vinyl has seen a monumental resurgence in recent years, but still remains largely inaccessible to your average buyer who doesn’t have the money, the time or the know-how required to get it ‘right’. Vinyl is notoriously fiddly (… it’s one of the things we love about it) and resource consuming, and the various attempts at making it more consumer-friendly have been somewhat disastrous… little more than a fashion statement. Sure, you can pick up a ‘turntable with a built-in amp for a small price from a high-street store, but chances are it’ll break within its first few uses, and won’t sound all the great until that point!
Vinyl is about more than just being fashionable. It’s about music, in its purest form. If it’s built to be cheap and easy, it will sound cheap and easy. Which means there isn’t a great deal out there for those who want to start getting into vinyl for the sound, but don’t have the time or the money to devote to it.

The Pro-Ject Jukebox E. It’s not out yet and we haven’t had the chance to see it in action. However, just from the tidbits that we have picked up, we are already predicting this may be the most popular thing in the hi-fi market this year. Maybe even for the next two years! Why? We haven’t heard it yet, so can’t comment on the sound. However, we know Pr0-Ject and everything they produce sounds far (far!) beyond the pricepoint, and lasts a very very long time. True hifi purveyors love them just as much as newcomers to the market. This may be an all-in-one system, but we are willing to bet it will sound like a separates system with a fraction of the fuss.
It will be available in gloss black, red and white when it finally emerges, and we imagine it will sell like hot cakes. Particularly delicious, diet-friendly hot cakes.
