Ruark R7 MkIII – Form and Function

The 20th century provided us with a number of design paradigms which shaped the world of Hi-Fi and audio. Whilst technology has certainly moved on, many of those concepts and designs are still very welcome today.

The traditional, mid-century Radiogram, is one such design enjoying a modern resurgence. The mid-century design charm of a stylish wooden box on legs incorporating speakers, amplifier and all the audio sources one could require, was not lost on Ruark.

In 2014, Ruark released the original R7, which re-invented the traditional Radiogram for the 21st Century. With modern technology, digital connectivity and beautiful retro style and design, the R7 was an instant headline grabber.

Now, Ruark introduces the R7 MkIII, an updated version of the R7; offering advancements in sound, technology and style, the R7 MkIII is sure to continue as a cult contemporary hit.

Enhanced digital and analogue connectivity

Whatever your choice of music format or listening habits, the Ruark R7 MkIII is likely to be able to accommodate. A plethora of digital and analogue connections allow for enjoyment of music sources both new and old, as well as a huge choice of analogue and digital radio.

Let’s start with the “bread and butter” features any “radiogram” should accommodate: a front mounted, multi-format CD slot allows the user to enjoy their CD collection as well as home-made CDs encoded with WAV, MP3, AAC and other popular music files. Track and artist information will also be displayed on the front panel screen when available.

An FM tuner is also incorporated for terrestrial analogue radio listening; as we would hope, Ruark has also included a DAB tuner with DAB+ support, and cleverly, an internet radio tuner! Enjoy a world of radio stations with ease and in great quality.

Additionally, the R7 MkIII has the added ability to connect to a turntable, thanks to its integrated phono preamplifier; a neat feature and one in keeping with its classic meets contemporary ethos. Further physical connections include a pair of analogue stereo inputs, 2 optical digital inputs, a stereo analogue out, plus a USB port for connecting pen drives etc.

For silent listening, the R7 MkIII features a front panel headphone output. Is there anything Rurak hasn’t thought about? Well, we’ve not even started to discuss the clever wireless connectivity on offer yet…

Digital streaming and multi-room functionality

The Ruark R7 MkIII facilitates digital audio streaming both over Bluetooth and wireless, enabling seamless audio streaming both to the R7 MkIII and to other connected wireless speakers.

The Ruark R7 MkIII features the very latest aptX HD audio technology, enabling high-quality audio streaming over Bluetooth; enjoy the convenience of streaming audio from your portable devices with the quality of a wired connection.

The Ruark R7 MkIII’s multi-room capabilities allow you to wirelessly link and sync it with one or more of Ruark’s R2 wireless speakers/radio/music system, allowing you to distribute music all around your home. Every source and input on the Ruark R7 MkIII can be multi-roomed including the turntable input, making R7 the perfect hub for your entertainment needs.

The centre of your AV system?

An optional Audio/Visual mount enables the R7 to truly become the centre of your home A/V system. Mount your TV and AV sources directly to your Ruark R7 MkIII and take advantage of the excellent connectivity to enjoy high-quality sound with your favourite films and television.
