Q Acoustics Active 200 is a completely active all in one speaker system with amazing wireless and wired connectivity. Q Active can support wireless streaming with a maximum source resolution of 32bit/192kHz; whether from its control hub via a smartphone or tablet. This allows for any source plugged into the hub to be converted into an information-rich 24bit/96kHz digital format before it’s streamed to the Q Active speakers.
Q Acoustics Active 200 Audio Performance
The speaker has a reflex ported design and features two full-range drivers and a single sub driver for the bass frequencies. The full-range drivers are both BMR 58mm (2.25in) giving crisp and clear high frequencies. This is coupled by a single high excursion subwoofer which is 114mm (4.5in) in diameter; giving you silky yet punchy bass lines. The built-in cross over is set to 150hz giving a smooth transition between the 2 different drivers giving seamless playback at all frequencies.
The frequency range goes from 46Hz to 20kHz ( at -6dB) meaning all the important elements of your music can be recreated. Active 200 is powered by six discrete amplifiers with a total of 280 watts driving the Q Active system means each driver receives its own carefully regulated amplification. As a result, Q Active can control each driver with accuracy and finesse which in short, means Q Active sounds bigger and more precise than you might think possible.
Active 200s BMR drivers
The Active 200s BMR drivers allow for outstanding sound quality across your entire listening area, rather than restricting it to the ‘sweet spot’ of more traditional driver arrangements. And, in addition to this widescreen presentation, BMRs deliver seamless midrange performance. Because they operate all the way down to 150Hz (crossover) , where they hand over to Q Actives’ subwoofer driver, there is no midrange crossover distortion and, consequently, completely clean and uncoloured midrange performance.
Design
Q Acoustics Active 200 are available in a choice of finishes – matte white or matte black. Both finishes are flawlessly applied and gently reflective of ambient light and both will enhance the interior decor of any home. The Q Active 200 can be purchased with a bespoke stand. Inspired by the Tensegrity stand developed by Q Acoustics for its high-end Concept 300 loudspeaker, the Q Active 200 stand minimises resonance from the floor to the speaker cabinet thanks to its remarkable low-mass, low-reflectivity design.
Multiroom Technology and Wireless features
The Active 200 works with a range of smart multiroom devices such as Google “Chromecast built-in”, Amazon “Works with Alexa” Multiroom Music, Apple Airplay2 or Roon to organise your multiroom music system. The Q Active can be seamlessly integrated into it for ultimate effectiveness and listening pleasure in the whole home .
The system has full connectivity for Bluetooth 4.1, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and UPnP. This allows for music streaming from all your popular streaming sites (Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, Qobuz, Spotify and Tidal.)
Q Acoustics Active 200 Vs Concept 300
The main difference between the Active 200 and the Concept 300 is that as a passive speaker, the Concept 300 needs to source an external amplifier where as the Active 200 is all built in to one unit. The Concept 300 is also set up in a 2-way reflex configuration with only 2 drivers (Mid/High and Bass) whereas the Q 200 has a single Subwoofer and dual Mid/High Drivers.
