QED QX series professional installation cables provide a safety and durability focussed solution to those in need of quality installation cabling.

Cabling: whilst it’s not the “sexiest” of subjects, it’s also vital to any Hi-Fi, cinema or sound installation. What you may not know is that there are very strict criteria regarding the safety standards of cabling professional installers are permitted to use in a domestic installation.

Thankfully the QED QX series of professional installation cables are fully certified for a lifetime of service…

QED QX CABLE

Safety First, because Safety Lasts

It’s something we hope will never happen to us; being caught in a burning building. Have you ever thought what might happen though, if you were stuck in a room with melting cabling? It’s a deeply unpleasant thought, as anyone who’s ever watched regular PVC cabling catch fire can attest to.

The majority of speaker and interconnect cabling utilises PVC insulation; some cables have a basic fire safety rating but even these can be potentially hazardous in a fire. Most PVC cabling, when set on fire,  gives off hazardous toxic smoke which poses a very serious health risk.

QED QX series cables are designated as Low Smoke Zero Halogen cables. LSZH cables are made from a special compound that insulates just as well as PVC, but in the unfortunate event of a fire, emits very low levels of smoke and zero halogen toxins.

LSZH cabling is increasingly becoming an industry standard specification amongst architects, builders, and commercial and marine designers; indeed only LSZH cabling is certified for boat installations.

QED QX Speaker Cable

Each complete cable assembly in the QED QX cable range is individually tested (complete with insulation jacket and conductors) to meet a number of IEC safety regulations. QED QX series speaker cabling is designed specifically for the professional installation market, and as such has a number of features which aid installation; both for professionals and enthusiast home installers too.

If you’re looking at installing a home cinema system, multi-room audio, or if you’re intending to run weatherproofed outdoor speakers, QED QX series cabling has a cable perfect for your needs.

QED QX164

QED QX16/2 and QX16/4 Speaker Cable

QED QX16 series speaker cable is a high-performance speaker cable, with all of the aforementioned safety benefits. Available as two conductor (16/2) or four conductor (16/4) variants, which assist in the installation of both conventional and bi-amped and bi-wired speakers.

Large cross-sectional conductor areas of high purity copper ensure that performance levels are good, even across long cable runs. Conveniently, the cable is marked along its length in one-meter intervals to indicate how much cable is left on the original reel; extremely useful for installers purchasing in bulk 100m or 300m boxes.

QED QX Outdoor Speaker Cable

Weatherproofed versions of the QED QX 16/2 and 16/4 are available, designed for installation in outdoor environments. As such, they feature a UV resistant outer coating, to protect the cable from the damaging long-term effects of direct sunlight. The QED QX outdoor cable is also water resistant, and buriable; ideal for running cable unobtrusively outside, under garden paths etc.

QED 16/4 WEATHERPROOFED CABLE

The QED QX Outdoor speaker cable offers all the safety benefits of the rest of the QED QX range, which also includes network cabling, projector cabling, automation cable and coaxial aerial cable. An extremely useful range of cabling which should be top of your list for consideration in your permanent, domestic installations.
