If like me you’re into Hi-Fi, then I imagine you have great admiration for all kit – the way it looks, the style, and most importantly of all the sound! There are certain names synonymous with high end products: Quad, Spendor and Naim for example, all of whom made fantastic kit then and now. With this is mind, and being huge audio fans, we are always open to buying second hand gear and taking in part-exchange items. This said, the kit we buy undergoes stringent examination by myself – I have personally been buying and selling Hi-Fi for many years and like to keep my finger on the pulse. We consider all items of a certain level, regardless of condition! Whether new or old, getting Hi-fi into loving homes is a passion here at Audio Affair.

This gives us an opportunity to give our customers fantastic used products at unbelievable prices! Let’s have a look at some of the current items we have in our inventory available to you:

Spendor BC1:

spendor

Formidable company, formidable model – the BC1, known universally throughout the Hi-Fi industry as a beautifully sweet speaker. Featuring a 3-way design comprising of a Bextrene Woofer (big woofers move more air, the bass from this speakers is smooth and low, not the most defined, but partner with a powerful amp and wow! A Coles super tweeter for HF, as seen on a few other “monitor type” loudspeakers of the era: B&W DM2A springs to mind and the highly revered Celestion HF1300 (again for HF), is one of the most famous Bristish tweeters ever made. This was always a speaker on my hit list being a huge fan of the “British sound” and as soon as we got them into stock they were up and running! I don’t need to sell this speaker – it sells itself! Condition is good, all drivers function perfectly, I don’t think the grilles have ever been removed! Does have some marks associated with age and a slight tear in one the grills, but given their age who cares?! These are a matched pair with consecutive serial numbers and original boxes: £499.00

LINN LP12 Transcription Turntable

turntable

Very little introduction is needed for the LP12 – without a shadow of a doubt the most popular Hi-Fi turntable of all time! This example is fully operational, and comes complete with an original Ortofon VMS20E cartridge, (this can be upgraded to anything you require, fitted free of charge!) Grace arm and original cover. The cover has some marking associated with age, but as I am sure you would agree the turntable looks better without it. The turntable has been checked by one of our team members who coincidently wanted to keep it – no such luck and we are pleased to offer this all-original turntable for sale. Testament to how well the previous owner cared for it, the original box is available with manuals and accessories. Feel free to come and have a listen, the Sondek is an experience that all should enjoy – an absolute bargain: £599.00

Quad ESL989

The Quad ESL, which has been around longer than some Audiophiles, (in one form or another, well me anyway!) started with the effortlessly brilliant ESL 57 and through careful research and development lead to this incarnation. Electrostatics are known for their holographic presentation, tonal neutrality and microscopic levels of detail retrieval, and this pair I am pleased to say follow suit perfectly. It is important to mention here that when looking to buy Electrostatics on the second hand market there are key factors to consider: being a 57 owner (and part time rebuilder) myself I am pleased to confirm that these have been well looked after, never overdriven and have been serviced by Quad after manufacture!  Complete with original boxes, accessories and mains cables. Do not miss out: £2995.00

NEAT Motive One

floorstanders

It is not just vintage gear we buy here at AA, any kit of a certain level is considered, such as these stunning NEAT Motive One, taken in a part exchange from one of our customers. They have been extremely well looked after, even the boxes are like new. Finished in striking Cherry they are as aesthetically pleasing as they are sonically satisfying. We have compared these to many speakers and matched to many amplifiers. The verdict: they are an absolute winner with Naim kit; defined, graceful and natural, even with very High end Naim they hold their own, never giving the impression of being lost. Although compact in size (easier to live with, partner-friendly) they do not suffer from the lack of stereo image and weight some lower-quality but similarly-sized speakers do. If you have a NAIM Uniti 2 for example look no further: £995.00

Conclusion

Our part exchange programme offers you the ability to use the value of your existing goods to upgrade to a new model. In a world where Hi-Fi can be very expensive, trading up those speakers you have had in the loft for years should be an attractive proposition, and in doing so you also give someone else the opportunity to enjoy them as much as you did. For the enthusiast or collector out there buying from a reputable dealer has benefits: We have a shop for demonstration and inspection, our team know their kit, and are willing to help get you the best product for your needs – not just the most expensive! We also offer a wide range of payment options such as finance – you can part exchange the value of your currents good towards your new finance package! One last thought: we are also interested in buying your unwanted kit, no need to part exchange – if you just want cash we are here, offering fantastic prices – granted we do not offer eBay prices but we are fair and offer a simple and hassle-free approach. For ease of sale, you can be satisfied your speakers are going to a good home, with a quick payment and NO fees!
