Sweet Vinyl, based in California, are leading the way in high definition audio for vinyl records. A large element of their crystal clear sound is the self-developed patented technology for the purpose of eliminating unwanted background noise from vinyl recording without affecting the original recording. This removal of background noise was once thought to be impossible before the likes of the SweetVinyl Sugarcube 1 (SC-1)

Legacy Products

The movement of high-quality vinyl distribution began with the now discontinued SC-1 Original and SC-2 Original. They allowed the user to listen to vinyl LPs without distracting clicks and pops whilst still keeping the music quality intact. The SC-1 included a built-in 192/24 bit Hi-Res ADC and DAC (Analogue to Digital Audio conversion unit) to give a maximum signal to noise ratio so you, the listener can have the best experience to your favourite music.

The SweetVinyl Sugarcube 2 Original has had multiple feature upgrades including the enhanced connectivity using Wi-fi integration and 3.0 USB port for external media. The Wi-fi feature enables connectivity to an IOS/Android app for wireless remote control of the unit. Both units were discontinued in 2019.

SweetVinyl Sugarcube Comparison

The new range is split into two models; the SweetVinyl Sugarcube 1  and 2, and each has three different variants; Mini, Plus and Mini Phono versions. All the Mini and Phono units are suitable for desktop use while the Plus models are significantly larger in size and feature full component sizes.

All models include SweetVinyl’s groundbreaking click and pop removal technology. The Phono Mini units are (as the name suggests) the only two in the series with high-quality MM/MC phono stage integration.

A big difference between the SC-1 and SC-2 range is the addition of recording stages for the media. Available on the SC-2 models, this function allows for high definition recording post-processing. It comes in a range of formats and sample rates to suit your needs. Also included is semi-automatic track splitting making recording an enjoyable and effortless experience for the user. Furthermore, the new feature on the SC-2 range is the addition of Discogs-based Album Metadata Tagging for easy storage and organisation of your music.

High Specification Models

The “Plus” models exclusively feature ADC/DAC conversion technology for seamless digital and computer integration. The Plus models also come with the option of silver or black chassis for a sleek and modern finish. Finally, the Sugarcube 2 Plus features a built-in headphone amplifier for premium sound.

This is a small low powered amplifier built into the unit that drives headphones giving greater results. Usually, headphone amplifiers are a separate unit which can be an inconvenience and take up extra space, so having one built-in ready to use is a really useful premium feature for any vinyl music enthusiast.
