TEAC PE-505 phono stage and TN-5BB turntable rekindle the beauty of old school analogue products with traditional features with traditional styling throughout.

TEAC PE-505 Phono Stage

“The development of the PE-505 was achieved by relying on TEAC’s audio technology expertise, focusing on recording and playback, to accurately reproduce the original intent of the recording producers.” – TEAC 2020

The PE-505 allows you to gain the best quality audio from your turntable; whilst allowing you to adjust elements of the sound to suit your record. This is achieved by Individual EQ curves for monaural records and those with EQ from Decca and Columbia. The PE-505 has a high signal to noise ratio and in doing so achieves 106dB on the RCA input (MM), and 86dB on the XLR input (MC), while the residual noise voltage reaches 10μV on the MM and 85μV on the MC (XLR). The PE-505 employs a fully-balanced circuit design throughout all stages that amplify, equalises and maintains signal purity of even the most extremely faint audio signals picked up by a cartridge.

Even unbalanced signal on the conventional RCA input is converted to the differential processing mode right after the input terminals. The PE-505 accompanies the high-quality output from your turntable and adds an analogue ‘vintage’ warmth to the sound. Teac PE-505 phono stage and TN-5BB Turntable are an ideal match.

TN-5BB Turntable arrive

“Are you ready to experience the sound the artists and engineers really wanted you to hear?” –  TEAC 2020

The TN-5BB is an analogue turntable, which supports MC balanced output. The exterior looks do not disappoint and feature a hybrid chassis that combines synthetic marble, washi paper and MDF materials. The chassis has a multilayer structure combining a heavy 36mm MDF baseplate for high internal loss and a 12mm synthetic marble for outstanding rigidity leading to greater stability and overall sound quality.

The TN-5BB is driven by a belt drive method with a flat belt that transmits the power of the DC motor to the outer circumference of the platter and then onto the record again resulting in stable speed control and sound quality. An optical sensor in the bottom of the platter detects the platter rotation speed, and an automatic rotation adjustment mechanism applies a servo to the motor in response.

The usability of the turntable is exceptional with numerous assistance features making the user experience seamless. The TN-5BB employs an automatic lifting arm; using a powered arm lifter enables raising and lowering the arm with a single button and also employs a function that automatically lifts the arm by a contactless optical sensor after playback ends.

The TN-5BB comes fitted with Ortofon 2M Red MM cartridges chosen for the brand’s highly established reputation. Since it is already installed and aligned with the headshell, records can be enjoyed soon after getting the turntable out and setting it up.
