If you have an LP12 or aspire to own one then potentially you have seen the new Linn Karousel Bearing, the LP12 as a concept has existed for over 40 years and while there are refinements in build and design essentially the product remains very similar to the original design – then boom, Linn come along a drop a bombshell product – The New Linn Karousel Bearing
There are key important parts to a turntable – these parts make a significant impact on the overall performance: namely arm, (inc bearing) cartridge, motor and platter. There of course other items to consider but bearing is of key importance. Ensuring it is of low noise, resistance and manufacturing from the highest quality part ensure you are getting the most from your deck.
What Do Linn Say?
Karousel, Linn’s new precision-engineered single-point bearing. Offering smoother rotation and greater stability for even better sound from your Sondek LP12. Further more diamond-like carbon coating inside the bearing reduces friction between the tip of the spindle and the base of the bearing itself. This reduces the ‘noise floor’ of the turntable. As such it improves musical reproduction. The science behind this new design is pretty evident and follows Linn’s strive to over-engineer, refine and even re-design what is possible in sound reproduction.
How Do I Get Involved?
The new bearing contains the following items:
– Bearing
– Inner Platter
– Springs/grommets/plates/nuts
