How many of you have visited our showroom? Okay… how many of you would like to? Well, if you’ve been kicking your heels about actually getting dragging your butt down to Birmingham and actually taking a look – we have to tell you: now is a very good time to stop thinking about it, and get it done.
This month’s theme is all about speakers, largely because we’ve had some exciting new upgrades in our showroom department. What better way to let you know all know what we’ve got, than by telling you exactly what we have in this showrrom right this minute?
So, here we have it. Dozens of very good reasons to come and visit our cosy little showroom – all two floors of it! Let’s start from the bottom and work our way up.
Downstairs
This is where we keep the less expensive (but still rather awesome!) stuff. Mostly bookshelves, but there is the occasional foorstander thrown in there for good measure. All wired up to a variety of amplifiers and ready to play with, the second you walk through the door.
Let’s start with some Tannoy.
Tannoy Revolution XT 6
A mid-seized bookshelf which heralded the beginning of the rather legendary Revolution XT series, setting a keen standard for both appearance and sound quality. Neatly demonstrated by the following…
Tannoy Revolution XT 6F Speakers
The smaller of two exceptionally designed floorstanding models in the Revolution XT range, the Revolution XT 6F is a compact speaker capable of delivering a dynamic full-range performance. But that’s nothing compared to the flagship…
Tannoy Revolution XT 8F Speakers
The flagship Tannoy Revolution XT 8F is a substantial floorstanding speaker which offers the scale and dynamics of real live music in a cabinet. Yes, it sounds every bit as good as it looks, marking the end of a glorious revolution!
KEF LS50
Do we even need to tell you what these are? We go on about them all the time! Trust us, they’re on of the best pairs of bookshelves around. You need to come hear (and see!) them for yourself.
ProAc Studio 118
Premium bookshelf speakers that excel (with a capital X) in bass, mid-range and high frequencie, all due to the redesigned bass driver and the somewhat infamously good ProAc 20mm tweeter.
Q Acoustics x3…
3010
Pretty, contemporary and ludicrously affordable! These beauties came in to replace the phenomenally successful 2000 series by Q, and are so far doing a cracking job. As can be seen by the rest of the series…
3020
and the…
3050
But there’s more to Q acoustics than just the 3000 series, as demonstrated by…
Concept 20
Multi-award-winning and good ‘all-rounders’ the Concept 20 are somewhat timeless in both their appearance and sound, meaning they have stuck around long after the 2000 series found itself replaced.
Q7000
Q’s answer to the satellite speaker are flawless in every way, and have proudly graced our showroom since their release. Paired with their specially made stands, these speakers are beautiuflly multi-purpose, serving well on their own as well as part of a cinematic team
Wharfedale Diamond 122
Budget-friendly and award winning, these speakers have been a long-standing favourite of ours. Following on in the (rather large) footsteps of the 10.1 (see below) wasn’t an esy feat, but the 122’s manage it with finesse.
Wharfedale Diamond 10.1
We loved these speakers os much that – when we found out Wharfedale were discontinuing them – we bought up all the remaining stocks. Yep, we have all of what’s left. That says it all really.
Yamaha NX50
Potentially the best PC-style speakers in the world. We loved these from the offset, in all of their funky colours. They are so good they work beautifully, even away from the desk.
Dali Mentor Menuet
The smallest speaker in the Dali range – but with the same reference level Dali sound you have come to expect. These cute little speakers pack a serious punch – you’d be surprised how well they carry a huge range of sound.
Dali Kubik Free
Yes, we have the more far-out speakers too! The Kubik Frees are still some of the finiest active/wireless speakers available, and they’re available to demo with us!
Upstairs
This is where the serious hi-fi gear lurks. In amongst the high-end turntables and other bits of gear, we have some of the best speakers in production today. Including…
KEF Reference 5
The most recent KEF flagship, and by far one of the most beautiful things we have both seen and heard. A true feat of hi-fi genius – you won’t want to leave once you’ve seen them.
Kef Reference 3 Foundry Edition
Limited edition and truly stunning, these are speakers steeped in a deep, rich heritage, with the iconic finish to match. These speakers were created in celebration of many decades of KEF finery – and what a way to celebrate!
But there’s a little more to KEF than The Reference.
KEF r700
Sophisticated and contemporary, the R700s are genuine audiophile floorstanders with a cool edge, and just enough bite that they don’t completely fade away.
Focal Sopra No2
One of the newbies – and as glorious (and diverse!) in sound as it is in appearance. Compact and clean with a transparent sound and excellent dynamics, these are speakers which do Focal some serious justice.
Focal Electra II 1008 Be
They may be bookshelves, but they’re incredibly high-end. The speakers boast a spacious and natural sound image, keen definition and precise bass, brought about by precision engineering and attention to detail.
Linn Exakt Akudorik
One of our biggest attractions, and the shining star of the showroom! This is a fully integrated system which features technology completely unique to the masters of lifestyle hi-fi: Linn. Exakt technology is easier demonstrated than explained, so this is one you’ll just have to come and see for yourself.
ProAc D20r
An incredible new floorstanding speaker in the Response range, building on the immense successes of the multi award-winning D18, and offering exciting new tweaks and features.
We like us some ProAc (particularly well paired with Naim, if you’re interested…), so there’s a few more for your perusal.
ProAc Response D2
Traditional ProAc to a T. Exceptional sound, flawless build quality, and a little bit of an edge to the look.
ProAc D30r
A veritable smorgasbord of high-end technology accumulates in some exceptional speakers. We’re big fans of ProAc here at Audio Affair, and it’s floorstanders like these that demonstrate why. They. Sound. PERFECT.
Epos k3
And now for something a little bit different. The K3s boast a few clever design quirks which allows for a sound that is as surprising as it is bewitching. It allows high volumes of air to pass without any nasty audible chuffing noises, unlike most conventional round tube ports – allowing for a light and vast soundstage with tonnes of character.
Dali Rubicon 5
A delicious sounding as it looks, these are serious floorstanders packed with exactly the kind of technology you’d expect from high-end hi-fi speakers.
Come on, give them a listen. You know you want to…
So, tell us: have we effectively tempted you? If the answer is yes, then give us a shout! We’ll book you in for a proper demo with the set up of your choice, with all of the above and more. Go on, don’t be shy…
