Witch Hat Audio are a British hi-fi company, established in 2o10, who specialise in manufacturing audio cables and – most recently – their own range of Moonlight amplifiers. They also provide servicing for amplifiers from across a huge range of brands.
Their expertise in cabling and amplification began with a specialism in the servicing of Naim equipment. But over time, their range has grown to include a range of their own specialist cabling and amplification, as well as cuatom servicing for amplifiers of all ranges and abilities. Their service is completely bespoke and requires you to get in touch with them in order to discuss your cabling and amplification needs, but there are a few of their incredibly well designed and manufactured products available to purchase right off the shelf.
There are two Witch Hat amps available to buy. The SBS-1 Stereo Power Amplifier and the Witch Hat Audio SBM-1 Mono Power Amplifier (Pair).
Witch Hat have used their years of expertise to create sometime truly high end and powerful, but with the slickness and style associated with less audio-reputable brands. The design of the SBS-1‘s power supply allows for great power delivery without making the amp sound slow or sluggish. The shape of the chassis allows for the sue of a proven transformer design which isn’t constrained by case size and doesn’t hum as much as a result. The SBS-1 features an output inductor to keep the amp stable under any load. Meanwhile the SBM-1 Mono Blocks offer the same incredible, slick AB classified sound, but with the extra benefit of there being one-per loudspeaker.
Definitely one for those who prefer their sound a little more rare, and a lot more refined.
