The long-awaited Yamaha AS amplifier series is here and it definitely doesn’t disappoint! The new A-S1200 and AS-2200 models are direct replacements of the A-S1100 and A-S2100 respectively.
Previous Models from the Yamaha A-S Range
The A-S1100 was extremely popular and the new models in the range are set to be even more popular with upgraded features. It employed Yamaha’s own unique floating and balanced power amplifier technology removing any negative impact and ground noise that affected the audio quality. The A-S2100 also had a large capacity power supply unit delivering energetic, dynamic sound with fast response and was finished with luxurious real wood panels.
Yamaha AS 1200 Power Amplifier
The Yamaha A-S1200 is a state of the art, modern power amplifier employing an original transformer, carefully customised for optimum compatibility within the unit. It combines four large capacity carbon sheath block capacitors that deliver an energetic sound, even during high volume.
The bass, treble and common circuits each utilise simple construction ensuring exceptionally pure sound reproduction even when tone control is applied and superb response to audio signal transients. Signal loss through transmission has been significantly reduced with the application of screw clamp connections and thick cables connecting the pre amp unit to the power amp unit. The amplifier also includes a phono amp that allows for super-rich audio transmission especially when playing vinyl records with both MC and MM cartridges.
For those who prefer more personal use, the unit is equipped with a headphone amplifier and a 6.3mm headphone socket. The headphone amplifier is designed to power high-quality professional audio headphones whilst maintaining high audio quality.
The Yamaha A-S1200 also retains its traditional stereo VU meters which are illuminated softly from inside by LEDs, giving a warm glow. The meter indicators can be switched to peak display. As always, it reflects Yamaha’s commitment to fine craftsmanship and art, uniquely drawing on its long experience as a world-class musical instrument maker.
The metal face panel complements the wooden sides perfectly giving a modern yet timeless feel that emanates quality. On the underside of the unit there are 4 rubber dampening feet that can be used either as spikes or pads to suit the surface and dampening vibrations going to the unit allowing for the highest quality of uninterrupted audio.
Yamaha AS 2200 Power Amplifier
The Yamaha A-S2200 follows on from the A-S1200 with a few extras. At the heart of the unit is a Toroidal power transformer, renowned for its amazingly high quality and performance. Its ability to maintain energy when compared to competitors, aids the A-S2200 in delivering all the emotional energy of the artist infused in the music.
The A-S2200 benefits from much larger and thicker cables, this creates much less resistance and therefore an open clean sound is achieved. The base unit feed is also upgraded from 1200 now using silver-plated feet to further reduce and dampen unwanted vibrations. Original speaker terminals inspired from the previous models by Yamaha are cut directly from brass making for a highly luxurious feel and finish ensuring a safe and secure connection to your speakers.
