Well well, Yamaha have been busy! So busy, we’re spoilt for choice! What am I talking about? I’m talking about their brand new AV Receiver range. Four new receivers with two brilliant things in common… MusicCast on a budget! Well, they actually have a bit more than that in common, but I’ll get to that in a minute.
Introducing…
The amazing Yamaha RX-V series! AV receivers that have everything you could possibly ask for, but at a very reasonable price. This particular range starts at £449 (the RX-V481D), and goes up to £699 (the RX-V781). And yes, each of the models feature the rather amazing MusicCast. Up until now, MusicCast has only been featured with AV stuff on Yamaha’s Avantage range – their highest end products. This means means that if you wanted an AV receiver with MusicCast, you had to have a pretty sizable budget.
Well, until now that is.
These are four value products and are completely bread and butter – yet they all include MusicCast! Perfect if you want a MusicCast system (and trust me, you really do!) but don’t want to spend too much money. It’s always nice to focus on one thing at a time, so let’s take a closer look at the model in the middle…
That’s the Yamaha RX-V581. It’s a very modest £499, yet it has pretty much every feature you could ever want from an AV recevier. You have spotify, internet radio, bluetooth, wifi… you name it. It even has 4K ultra HD video – so that alone is worth shouting about! And of course, as it’s MusicCast, it is very easily integrated with anything else from that clan. Not bad eh? The V581 is what we expect to be the most popular. It has the most features with 7.2 channels, an inbuilt phono stage for vinyl lovers and Dolby Atmos decoding… if you’re lucky enough to have Atmos!
What makes Yamaha as special as they are with their receivers is their consistency with tonal purity. The music will sound the same as the movies… which is pretty damn good.
New AV receivers are… nothing new. In fact, they come out every year! We also love (and stock) various models from Onkyo, Arcam and Pioneer, but find that personally at this level (under £1500) Yamaha have the best sounding receivers. Of course, if you’re spending more we would recommend the glorious Anthem, but if you’re looking for great sound at a great price this is the perfect choice.
You know what we love to do? Put together packages. And this is the perfect excuse to do exactly that, perhaps with a nice 5.1! This particular model would go beautifully with the Q Acoustics 3000 5.1 set up, for instance. Just give us a call and we’ll give you a good price.
