Product Description
The Anthem MRX 1140 8K AV receiver is Anthem’s latest flagship AVR and takes AV receivers to the next level with the latest Dolby Atmos and DTS: X codecs, along with support for 8K with the latest 8K capable HDMI inputs.
DTS: X is object oriented and supports up to 11.2 channels. The MRX 1140 outputs 140 watts on each of its 11 channels. It also includes ARC (Anthem Room correction) that uses a microphone to analyse the sound and correct any imbalances. Control is simplified by the use of an app that will run on any platform.
Controllability simplified
With a device this complex it is important to have a good clear interface and comprehensive control. Anthem have developed a detailed controller app that can be used on smartphones, tablet or laptop. This gives maximum flexibility when in comes to setting up your system. Changes can be done on the fly. You can also control the power to more than one zone, adjust the volume and tweak each channel
Configurable amplifier modules
The high performance amplifier modules can be configured to suit your system and speakers. Unused modules can be reconfigured to bi-amp the front speakers or power surrounds. There is also a second zone available with the MRX 1140. Sound presentation can be optimised by using Anthem's newest Room Correction system, ARC Genesis.
What is ARC Genesis?
ARC is a room correction system that uses sophisticated software and a microphone to actively monitor the sound in the room. It then adjusts each channel to correct any errors. ARC Genesis is the newest version that includes support for Mac and Windows. It also has an improved algorithm and more target curve options including deep bass and better high frequencies. The target curve is used by the software to set the output parameters. The sound improvement is astonishing. Finally there are two main surround sound processing methods in use today, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X
What is Dolby Atmos?
Dolby Atmos is a surround sound system that was first used in cinemas in 2012. It has upto 128 audio channels that can be actively steered to a particular speaker location. This is object based surround sound where each sound can be located in 3D space. In home systems up to 11 output channels are used and these include height channels.
What is DTS:X ?
DTS:X is a rival to Dolby Atmos and it was introduced in 2015. Its flexible codec will adjust the sound to work with any speaker configuration, without needing overhead speakers. DTS: X is an open source multidimensional audio platform that can be used to control the movement placement and volume of sound objects. Another key feature is that it allows users to control the level of just the voice channels.
Build quality
Anthem spend thousands of hours designing their own circuit topologies that ensure the best long term quality and reliability at this price point. The power supplies are robust and will deliver reliable and quiet operation.
Massive connectivity
The MRX 1140 has a massive range of connection options. Beginning with the latest HDMI inputs with 8K capability. There are 7 HDMI inputs and three pass through outputs with eARC support. There are also 5 analogue inputs and a set of comprehensive pre-amp outputs. Finally, there are three optical digital inputs as well as 2 coaxial inputs.
