WiiM Mini Audio Streamer

WiiM Mini audio streamer is a 24-bit capable music streamer that will stream from your smartphone, tablet or PC and is designed for excellent sound quality at a fantastic price.

It will work with both Apple Airplay 2 or Amazon multiroom connected devices and supports 24-bit HD music streaming. It also features an analogue output to connect to your hi-fi amplifier, active speakers or other music system and its inexpensive enough you could use more than one of them around your house. Voice control can be provided via Amazon Alexa or Apple Siri. Bluetooth is included to connect to any other Bluetooth enabled device.

What is an audio streamer?

An audio streamer acts as an interface between a device that holds or streams music, such as a Smartphone and an amplification device such as a hi-fi amplifier, active speakers or music speaker system. Another function of a streamer is to provide multiroom capability. Several streamer units can be installed in a home on different systems and the controlling app will then be able to send music to each room – this can be the same source or a different music source. Voice commands can also be used with some audio streamers. Audio streamers can also be used to convert older hi-fi units and amplifiers to wireless operation. Most have a wired analogue output for this purpose.

Good Connectivity

The WiiM Mini has an analogue input as well as an analogue output. The output can be used to connect the unit to an amplifier or active speaker. There is also a type C USB connector for external drives or a memory stick. There is also a digital optical SPDIF connector. The included power supply is 5V.

Apple Airplay 2

Apple devices use the Airplay 2 app to stream to multiple rooms. WiiM Mini has a receiver that will integrate with Airplay 2 based devices. You can stream to multiple rooms simultaneously or send a different source to each room. Other airplay devices can also be sued such as Apple TV or Homepod.

Apple or Amazon voice control

Voice control can make it easier to access services. The Mini can be controlled by Amazon Alexa or Apple Siri. Commands like “Play music in the bedroom” or Turn the volume up” can be used, as can “Play radio 2”, or similar.

Multiroom streaming

The WiiM network audio streamer can stream to multiple rooms using either Apple Airplay 2 or Amazon Alexa. You can also use the dedicated iOS or Android App. Services such as Spotify and Tidal Connect with integrate directly with the unit. Just use the connect feature, and the WiiM Mini will appear in the available devices menu. You can also stream from internet radio providers.

Hi-res audio

The WiiM Mini can stream high resolution audio at 24bit 192kHz quality. This is unusual for such an inexpensive device. Additionally, the WiiM Mini can be integrated into your home network by pressing the WPS button and entering your Wi-Fi password. You can also stream using Bluetooth from any device that is not available via Wi-Fi.

How does Multiroom audio work?

Multiroom audio allows you to listen to music in any room of the house without needing a portable device. It grows with you and you can start simply with your main system connected to a WiiM, and a couple of active speakers or music systems in other rooms also each connected to a WiiM. This will allow you to enjoy the same or a different music source in different rooms.
