Product Description
Audio Technica VM530EN Dual Moving Magnet Stereo Phono Cartridge is equipped with a lightweight nude elliptical stylus to reduce the execution mass of the vibration system enabling fuller frequency reproduction.
Cutter-Head Structure
Instead of using a single, large magnet, the two magnets are arranged in the shape of a "V" replicating the cutter head structure. The two magnets are positioned precisely to match the positions of the left and right channels in the stereo groove walls.
Consequently, the VM design ensures outstanding channel separation, extended frequency response and superb tracking.
Magnetic Circuit
Para-toroidal coils improve generating efficiency and offers superb linearity, since leakage of magnetic flux in this continuous and unitised magnetic circuit is low. Permeability of the cores is also optimised through the use of laminated cores.
Channel crosstalk
A permalloy centre shield plate enables the effective separation of left and right channels, suppressing electrical crosstalk to below 40dB. This is similar to the actual crosstalk value found in the grooves of the record itself.
500 Range
This standard cartridge body is fitted with the same paratoroidal coils, centre shield plate and 6N-OFC coil wire as the 700 series. VM530EN sits below the VM540ML sharing many of its features but with an EN stylus used instead of the lower wear/distortion MicroLine Stylus.
Elliptical Nude Stylus
Elliptical diamond stylus follows the groove modulation with greater precision compared to a conical stylus, offering improved frequency and phase responses whilst reducing distortion.

A lot of cart for your money. You get the paratoroidal cart body which is compatible with the red microline and brown shibata tips, so lots of scope to upgrade later. These are some of the best sounding and well-made MM styli you can buy. The house sound is very detailed and because the coils are of a relatively low inductance, any unwanted brightness is easy to tune out by adjusting the capacitive loading and phono-stage. I set mine to 50pF, allowing 50pF in the cables to make 100pF. Sounds great
