The Cary Audio SI-300 2d Integrated Amplifier is a milestone from Cary Audio that provides a rich warm sound and features a modern digital frontend. The amplifier provides up to 300 watts per channel and operates in class A for a large part of the power output. The amplifiers then switch to class B for higher outputs.
The digital front end has many inputs including two coaxial and an optical input. There is also Bluetooth and WIFI. Bitrates for PCM go up to 32bit/384kHz. There is also DSD support. Analogue inputs include two RCA inputs as well as balanced inputs. Lastly, the quality cabinet includes two backlit power meters and a digital display for source information.
Solid state Class A/B amplifiers
Class A/B amplifiers are used by the Cary Audio SI-300 2d Integrated Amplifier. These offer 300 watts per channel and operate in Class A for a significant part of the power output. This gives a smooth and detailed sound. For higher outputs, the unit gradually switches to Class B operation. Moreover, the preamp stage also operates in class A. Both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analogue inputs are provided.
A quality digital front end
Only the best digital circuit topologies are used by the Cary Audio SI-300 2d Integrated Amplifier. Digital to analogue conversion is done by using Cary Audio’s TruBit™ Upsampling and OSO™ reclocking features. Many digital inputs are provided, including USB and two coaxial and optical inputs.
There is true native DSD support up to 256 times. PCM up to 32bit/384khz is also supported. Additionally, Bluetooth with aptX is also supported. Notably, upsampling is available on all of the digital inputs. This can be switched in or out. Lastly, there is a professional AES/EBU input.
Good connectivity
Speaker outputs are via standard gold-plated binding posts, that can take banana plugs, spade connectors, or bare wires. Next, Just under the speaker terminals sit four analogue inputs, two XLR, and two RCA pairs. Additionally, there is a preamp output and two WIFI and Bluetooth aerial connectors. Just under these are the digital inputs, two coaxial and one optical.
There is also a trigger input. Notably, There is a pre/subwoofer output and Ethernet and WIFI so that the unit can be controlled via the available apps for iOS or Android devices. There is also an IR remote control. Balanced inputs can be used to minimize the noise picked up by connected cables.
High build quality
The Cary Audio SI-300 2d Integrated Amplifier comes in black or silver. The front panel features a large volume knob along with two gorgeous blue, backlit power meters. On the other side of the volume knob is a digital display. This shows all of the source information. The front also has a row of selector buttons for source selection. This unit will form the heart of a digital system and can be connected to a streamer or CD player/ Blu-ray player.
