Product Description
Chord Epic X ARAY RCA interconnects is the latest version of this cable from Chord, designed for the best possible signal transfer between your audio equipment.
This latest version features Chords unique X ARAY conductor technology. This uses silver-plated multi-strand, oxygen-free copper cable as well as ChorAlloy plated, VEE 3 RCA plugs.
ARAY technology is designed to improve detail as well as dynamics. The high quality braid is also designed to block high frequencies, such as Wi-Fi and mobile phone signals. This cable is available in a variety of lengths.
What is ChorAlloy?
ChorAlloy was developed by Chord as a way of mitigating the effect that silver plating has on an audio signal, at high frequencies. Silver can cause intermodulation effects at high frequencies, potentially muddying the sound. As a result, Chord developed ChorAlloy. This special multi-metal coating reduces intermodulation effects and resists tarnishing. Other plugs sometimes use gold plating, however, this can rub off over time.
Why use high end cables?
There are several factors that can affect the performance of an audio cable. The main ones are noise pickup and poor connectivity, due to plug tarnishing. Most people will be familiar with the clicking, beeping, noise that can be picked up by amplifiers when your smart meter is transmitting. This is due to poor cable shielding. The usual way to mitigate poor connectivity, is by using cables with gold-plated connectors or ChorAlloy, in the case of the lead discussed here.
Moreover, the sophisticated braided shielding should prevent any RF noise pickup. Another issue is the resistivity of the cable. On longer runs, this can degrade the signal. Hence the Epic RCA interconnects use oxygen-free copper. This has a lower resistance than less pure copper. Ensure the best possible signal with the Chord RCA interconnects.
A high end interconnect like the Epic X ARAY is designed to be the best possible connection between audio components, whether that be between your streamer and amplifier, DAC analog output and amplifier, CD player and amplifier, pre amplifier and power amplifier or similar to ensure you are getting the best possible sound from your investment in your hi-fi system.
