Chord Epic X XLR Interconnects

Chord Epic X XLR Cable with tuned ARAY conductor geometry has been developed for high performance balanced connections and is fitted with silver-plated Neutrik XLR connectors .

The New X Version

The premium Epic XLR interconnects just got even better with the X-edition upgrades. The connectors are now coated with the new tarnish-resistant ChorAlloy. This is a multi-metal coating process that resists tarnishing and is designed to reduce intermodulation at high frequencies. Another upgrade is the insulation. The XLPE material is far more long-lasting and durable than PVC. It also resists heat and moisture.

Construction

The Epic X analogue XLR cable employs a unique multiple conductor construction. The conductors have been wired to produce the best possible performance via a balancedconnection. Epic X conductors are constructed from silver-plated multi strand oxygen free copper. These conductors are insulated with PTFE before being surrounded by a specially selected PVC jacket.

This reduces mechanical noise and correctly spaces the high density braid and foil shield, which is effective to high frequencies. This cable is available in custom lengths and can also be terminated with Chord VEE 3 silver-plated RCA plugs.

Performance

This cable is part of the Epic X cable range which includes loudspeaker cables and digital interconnects. Epic X cables have been designed to perform together. However, all Chord interconnects and speaker cables follow a similar design philosophy. This means that all Chord cable ranges are compatible with each other

Chord Epic X interconnects are built to exacting standards and rigorously tested at our UK facility. Tuned ARAY interconnects require extremely precise construction methods and each cable is built by our team of trained technicians.

Configuration

The Tuned ARAY conductor configuration was originally developed on our then flagship Sarum interconnect cables. Tuned ARAY cables carry high levels of detail and dynamic information and they do so in a way that preserves the rhythmic integrity of the music. Tuned ARAY cables allow you to connect properly with your favourite music.

For best performance

Switch off all equipment before fitting or removing cables.
Connect the cable so that the arrow on the cable points from the source component.
The C of Chord should be nearest the source component.
When fitting and removing, always use the plug. Never pull directly on the cable.
Avoid touching the contact areas of the plug.
Route the cable away from speaker cable and power cables where possible.
The increase in performance that Tuned ARAY cables bring will be immediately noticeable.
However, the performance will further improve with use.

Our experience of Tuned ARAY cables is that the improvements are quite noticeable, particularly in terms of musical coherence.
