Product Description
Creek Audio Voyage i20 is a high-end stereo integrated amplifier that incorporates a cutting-edge DAC circuit with multiple inputs for USB, SPDIF, optical, USB and Bluetooth.
The Voyage i20 is designed to be practical and stylish in operation, constructed using only the highest quality materials to provide a simple to use high-end stereo experience all in one deceptively small unit.
Why the Creek Audio Voyage i20
The Voyage i20 is aimed at a new, higher-end market, as well as existing creek audio customers wishing to upgrade since the previous well-acclaimed Evolution 50 and 100 ranges have now been discontinued.
So what's new in the voyage range? Well, housed in this sleek casing is a combination of an analogue pre-amplifier with ten analogue and digital inputs, digital to analogue converter with a power amplifier powered by a unique stabilized power supply. The i20 delivers operational sophistication, flexibility and sonic performance in an elegant little unit.
The user interface matches the minimalistic design of the outer casing with an intuitive, easy to use, large OLED display - the settings for this can be controlled via remote control or rotary control knobs.
Analogue Pre-Amplifier
The design for all aspects of the Voyage i20 is about versatility and flexibility in which it succeeds. The analogue pre-amplifier features ten analogue and digital inputs, 3 x RCA sockets or 1 x XLR balanced sockets. Gold-contact relays direct input signals to a state-of-the-art MUSES electronic volume and balance control circuit.
Each input can also be set to bypass the pre-amp and volume control. This user selectable DIRECT mode allows the i20 to be used as a power amplifier with four inputs, or a combination to suit your individual needs. It gives the user complete control.
The Power Amplifier
Creek Audio's Voyage i20 uses technology to help the power amplifier's task of increasing signal amplitude and current to a level capable of driving loudspeakers with better results. With the i20's design, powerful Sanken STD03 transistors and thermal tracking Sanken bi-polar power are used to drive even the most difficult speaker loads with delicacy and power yet be equally at home with simple 2-way monitors.
To optimise performance and maintain left right symmetry, Creek Audio has also developed a modular plug-in voltage amplifier circuit. Their discrete transistor circuitry and relatively low negative feedback allow input signals to be fed to the power amp without the need of additional gain in the pre-amplifier
Practicality and Protection
Creek Audio's Voyage i20 is very durable; it is designed to be reliable when working within temperatures from 0 to 95 degrees centigrade. If, however, the maximum limit is reached, then the output will be disconnected until the temperature drops to a more acceptable level and the volume setting will automatically be reduced, this stops any unwanted pops or bangs when coming back on.
As well as temperature precautions the i20 will detect any power hazards. If a DC is detected at the output, speaker relays will interrupt the signal instantly to prevent damage. And in the event of a pre-set current-limit being reached, either by driving an unacceptably low impedance speaker load, or a short-circuit in the output, both speaker relays will interrupt the signal to prevent potential damage.
Like mentioned the i20 features a cutting-edge DAC circuit with multiple inputs for USB, SPDIF, optical, USB and Bluetooth. These are perfect for applications that involve television sound, CD Players, streamers, and other digital sources. A "Comet mk2 aptX HD Bluetooth" module is also built-in, for handy wireless streaming from smartphone, tablets or static computer devices, capable of CD quality performance.
Software updates may also be downloaded from the internet via USB, so the Voyage i20's operating system can always be kept up to date.
Headphones
The voyage i20 ensures compatibility with a wide variety of headphones by incorporating a dedicated headphone amplifier that feeds from the pre-amplifier's output. This high-current amplifier is capable of driving headphones loads specified from 8 to 300 Ohm, with no added noise or loss of fidelity.
