Product Description
The Emotiva BasX A11 power amplifier is a flexible power amplifier unit with eleven channels that each have an output of 105 Watts at 8 ohms. The unit is intended for Dolby Atmos systems that can have up to eleven Channels. It can, however, be used for bi-wiring and other such use cases.
The inputs use standard RCA sockets and each channel has a status LED that is normally blue but changes to red to indicate a fault. The outputs are well protected against speaker shorts and ground faults. Audiophile-grade five-way binding posts are used for the speaker outputs. Lastly, there is a trigger input that can be used to turn the unit on from the preamp.
Sound quality first
The amplifier channel outputs, with the Emotiva BasX A11 eleven-channel amplifier, can provide a high current to drive demanding speakers with ease. The output features a great-sounding class A/B design that provides smooth detailed sound with all types of music and movies. The signal paths are kept short to minimize noise and interference. The inputs also feature a wide bandwidth to make the best of high-definition sources.
Top quality engineering
A heavy-duty, class H power supply is used in the Emotiva BasX A11 eleven-channel amplifier. There is also an oversized toroidal transformer. Class H is often known as a “rail tracker”. This refers to the fact that the power supply keeps the supply voltage to the output transistors just a few volts higher than required.
This provides maximum efficiency at all times, as well as reducing the operating temperature. Top-quality parts are used for a long life and the chassis is made of heavy steel with a milled aluminium face plate. Lastly, double-sided FR4 circuit boards, with through-plated holes, are used to reduce the need for point-to-point wiring.
Connectivity
All eleven inputs are via standard RCA connectors. The output terminals use heavy-duty insulated five-way speaker binding posts. These can take a wide range of connectors, including banana plugs, spade terminals, and bare wires. Moreover, there is a trigger input and output that enables the preamp to turn the Emotiva BasX A11 eleven-channel amplifier on and off. The trigger output will then cascade to turn on another connected device.
What can this unit be used for?
The Emotiva BasX A11 eleven-channel amplifier is intended to be used in conjunction with a preamp that has all of the decoding needed for a Dolby Atmos system. An Integrated AV receiver will also have all of the line-level outputs needed for Dolby Atmos. There is no volume control, that is provided by the preamp.
Dolby Atmos can have up to eleven channels. This includes side and ceiling channels, that give an immersive 3D effect. Dolby Atmos uses sound objects that can be placed anywhere in the 3D sound field. The Emotiva BasX A11 eleven-channel amplifier can also be used with 7.1 systems with some of the outputs being used for subwoofers.
