Product Description
The Emotiva BasX TA2 Integrated Amplifier and DAC is a fully-featured audio system with a built-in amplifier, DAC, and FM tuner. The unit has an optimized circuit layout for low distortion and a high bandwidth sound. Additionally, the analogue signal is never converted into digital and the volume and tone controls are also pure analogue.
Notably, the built-in DAC uses the legendary AD1955 25-bit 192kHz chip. There is good connectivity so that You can connect your legacy devices such as a turntable or CD player. Finally, there is a line-level subwoofer output so that you can create a 2.1 system.
Great connectivity
Analogue inputs on the Emotiva BasX TA2 Integrated Amplifier and DAC, include two line-level inputs as well as a high-quality phono input. Both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges are catered for. Digital inputs include a coax S/PDIF input and an optical Toslink input.
There is also a USB socket. All the inputs support 24-bit/192kHz sampling rates. Notably, an independent headphone amplifier is built in. Lastly, Bluetooth5 is provided and supports AptX and AAC.
This unit can be used as the head end of a system by connecting the line-level outputs to an external amplifier or powered speakers. However, there is also a built-in stereo amplifier and a line-level subwoofer output. The subwoofer output has a fixed crossover frequency of 90 Hz.
Powerful amplifier
The Emotiva BasX TA2 Integrated Amplifier and DAC feature a class A/B amplifier that uses a toroidal transformer-based power supply. There is an active bass management system that can be used with the line-level outputs as well as the amplified outputs. It can also be bypassed if not needed. The output power is 135 Watts into 8 Ohms.
Analogue volume control
The volume control in the Emotiva BasX TA2 Integrated Amplifier and DAC is pure analogue and features a large control knob with precision-crafted knurling. A soft blue glow compliments the front panel. You can also control the volume from the provided remote control. There is a balance control, if you are listening off the centre axis.
Additionally, the volume remembers the levels last set on the main amplifier and headphone amplifier separately. In this way, you will not get any surprises. Bass and treble controls are provided and the built-in FM tuner can store pre-set stations.
A quality heavy steel chassis
A heavy steel chassis protects the components of the Emotiva BasX TA2 Integrated Amplifier and DAC from damage and interference. Moreover, the front panel is made of a solid milled piece of aluminium. Additionally, the circuit boards are made of double-sided FRS-grade material.
They have plated through holes and SMD construction. Only the highest-grade components are used for a long reliable Life. Consequently, the unit comes with a three-year warranty.
What is a streamer?
The Emotiva BasX TA2 Integrated Amplifier and DAC is a good solution if you already have legacy audio equipment such as a turntable or CD player. This is an all-in-one unit with a built-in amplifier and plenty of analogue inputs. There is also a built-in phono preamp. However, the unit can also be used as a streaming head-end if you have a favourite amplifier.
The digital inputs allow you to connect CD players with the optical input for example. You can also stream from online services via Smartphone or tablet using Bluetooth. Streaming services provide music from a remote server over the internet. This is usually controlled via a Smartphone app.
