Grado Statement Series2 MC Phono Cartridge uses four reconfigured coils, a precision machined ultra-low mass generating system (lower than any MC cartridge), a boron cantilever and a diamond cut to their strict specifications.
Grado Legacy
Grado is best known for its headphones but started out around 70 years ago manufacturing phono cartridges. The newly released Statement 2 is the finest cartridge they have ever made.
Unlike their original cartridges, Statement 2 is an iron model rather than pure moving-coil. Grado spent more than two years minutely analysing and upgrading every design parameter of its flagship cartridge.
Performance
It is hand-assembled within a machined Australian Jarrah wood housing that’s designed to optimise the mass distribution creating one of the world’s most stable tracking phono cartridges. The output for the Statement Series2 measures at 1.0 mV. This optimised output results in maximum dynamics with today’s ultra-low noise phono stages.
The low-frequency information and its portrayal of bass dynamics are solid, powerful and authoritative. Midrange is rich, complex and highly believable. Its top-end seems to extend forever with speed and remarkable delicacy. Imaging is detailed and precise with a soundstage that draws you into the music.
Hand-Crafted
The Statement Series of wooden cartridges are a fixed coil design, hand-crafted at Grado Labs in Brooklyn. An intricate procedure of curing is done between production steps to achieve optimal sonic quality.
This series generator/stylus module is not replaceable allowing a one-piece magnetic circuit and a reduction of chassis resonances. Manufacturing and assembly techniques used offer fantastic accuracy and precision with virtually flawless results.
