Product Description
Graham Slee PSU1 Enigma Micro Signal Power Supply is a very effective upgrade for the Accession MC phono stage, and other Graham Slee phono stages and headphone amplifiers, which is designed to enhance the performance of MC cartridges.
Similar to PSU-1
In essence, this is a superior power supply unit which is very similar to the PSU 1 in all aspects other than the internals, designed to cope with very low output cartridges but able to perform equally well with both MC and MM cartridges.
Development
During production of the Accession MC, Graham Slee found the much revered technique of PCB ground planes could be improved by also hard wiring ground returns. The difference was immediately audible. While developing other circuits and investigating the PSU1’s reservoir caps, it was realised that by fitting capacitors which met Kirchhoff’s stringent rules, the “microscopic” signal currents, which were not being treated equally, would significantly improve performance.
Enhance Audio
The Enigma reduces the dissipation factor boosting dielectric absorption for better frequency stability so all signal current frequencies are treated more equally. Graham Slee fine-tunes the Kelvin paths providing a new DC cord and lockable outlet for greater clarity when using the Accession MC phono stage as the micro-signal current linked with moving coil returns to its origin with least possible disturbance.
Sound Solidity
The lowered dissipation factor increases resultant current handling by 35% and when tested with more high-current Majestic Pre/DAC, a remarkable improvement is evident in the solidity of the sound. The PSU1 Enigma is equipped with a specially made shielded DC cord.
