Product Description
Welcome to the wireless version of the HiFi Man HE-R9 wired headphones. So that you can listen on the go, they come with the plug-in, premium, R2R Blumini Bluetooth receiver. The HE-R9 headphones feature a unique topology diaphragm, developed by the HiFi Man himself Dr Fang.
Nano particles are used to vary the surface pattern so that the sound can be optimised in a very precise way. For a touch of luxury the steel headband is coated in memory foam and supple leather. You can also listen via different cable options.
Nano Drivers for Punchy Bass
HiFi Man was started by Dr Fang and he developed the nano particle technology used on the diaphragm. The particles are coated onto the driver in a certain pattern. The compound used, thickness and pattern all affect the sound. Using sophisticated analysis the quality of audio can be manipulated in a very precise way.
Memory Foam and Leather Headband
For a touch of luxury the steel headband of the HE-R9 is coated in hi-end memory foam and supple leather. The memory foam gives a comfortable fit while the leather is breathable and hard wearing. The headphones are strong and lightweight with a great musicality that is uncommon at this price. Finally, the striking crimson ear-cups are large enough to give the unique drivers enough volume to produce that stunning bass.
Hi-res Bluetooth Bluemini add-on
You can convert the HE-R9 headphones to wireless operation with the provided R2R. This unit just plugs in unobtrusively to one of the input sockets. This quality unit is also made by HiFi Man and uses the proprietary Himalaya DAC. Most modern streaming codecs are built in, such as LDAC, Aptx-HD as well as AAC and SBC. One of the best chipsets is used with the Qualcomm QCC5124. This has a frequency response of 20 Hz – 20Khz. Battery life is 6-7 hours.
Wired and Wireless
The HE-R9's can also be connected by cable. There are two input sockets so that you can bi-wire the unit or use a single cable. You can either use two TRS cables or a single TRRS cable more on what these are below
Confused About headphone cables?
All the different acronyms regarding cables can be confusing, so here we take a look at what they mean. Headphones were originally used in telephone exchanges and had 1/4” or 6.3mm “phone” plugs. These were to big for portable devices so 3.5mm plugs became the norm. First in mono and then stereo.
There is also a third version that has four conductors and can take a microphone. The terminology used refers to the construction of the plug's rings. Firstly TS stands for Tip and Sleeve. The sleeve is usually connected to the outer shield. These are essentially mono cables. The second type is TRS or Tip Ring Sleeve these are the standard stereo plugs. Finally, the HE-R9's can use a third type TRRS which have two rings and were intended for microphones. However, here they are used as a single two channel connection instead of the bi-wiring option.
