Short Throw Projectors
Short throw projectors are designed so you can enjoy cinema like images in tight spaces. Rather than need to find somewhere for a projector to go at the back of the room on the ceiling, a short throw projector can be placed next to the wall you're going to project onto, making it a very convenient solution. Its also an ideal option where space is at a premium.
Also, due to their proximity to the wall, typically short throw projectors are able to produce bright vibrant images. Many of the more premium short throw projectors pack a real punch with bulbs at around 3600 lumens and high contrast ratios. This ensures a rich, deep image is projected allowing you to enjoy your favourite movies and sports games in a brighter and clearer picture quality.
In general, short throw projectors have a throw ratio in the 0.6 to 0.8 range. Ultra short throw (UST) projectors can be defined by having a throw ratio of around 0.4. This means you could fill a 2.5 metre wide screen with the projector as little a 1 metre away or even closer with premium models that feature wide angle lenses. This is all in contrast to most standard projectors which have a throw ratio of around 2.0 and need to be placed considerably further away from the screen to generate a large image.
All of these benefits also mean you can enjoy an image even larger than most flatscreens, without a big black box on your wall when its turned off. We recommend projecting a short throw projector onto a suitable projection screen, but you can project onto a perfectly flat matt painted white wall, making a short throw projector both convenient and an exciting alternative to a normal flatscreen if you really want to enjoy cinema like images at home.
