DAC/Headphone Amp
The miniature DAC/headphone amplifier replaces the inferior DAC and amp in your smart device, PC or Mac. Simply connect the hip-dac via USB, insert headphones and away you go. Relax with your favourite music streamer, Spotify, Apple Music or Tidal as the hip-dac delivers a sound brimming with bold dynamism and fluid refinement.
Small but mighty
Whether you are curling up in Costa or on your commute, the hip-dac delivers hi-res music with flair. Thanks to the Burr Brown chip, audio remains ‘bit-perfect’. The hip-dac supports hi-res PCM up to 384kHz as well as DSD256 and MQA as used by Tidal’s ‘Master’ tier.
Balanced audio circuits
The hip-dac boasts a balanced, analogue stage for less unwanted noise to bring you the best musicality for miles around. It sports a 4.4mm balanced output for balanced headphone cables/connectors. For those ‘hissy’ IEMs, use the 3.5mm S-Balanced. Enjoy all the benefits of balanced from your single-ended connection.
Feel the Force
The small but mighty hip-dac sports PowerMatch – switchable gain. Even on the go, adjust input sensitivity to match the level of drive to the load of your headphones. Leave it off for those those ‘out and about’ IEMs and pop it on for on/over-ear types with relatively low impedance that require more oomph.
iFi xBass
xBass is iFi's optional sonic adjustment which addresses the lack of bass that’s often apparent with in-ears or open back headphones. Boost that bass, and “bring the booty back” to your iEMs with the hip-dac.

Single Ended Circuit
It is a superior method to the traditional single-ended circuit approach. Balanced circuits reduce noise and crosstalk. Less Interference – clearer sound. You normally find this set-up in products at the higher end of the price spectrum such as the Pro iCAN but iFi is now using this across its range to produce the best quality audio. iFi’s exclusive S-Balanced circuit delivers maximum performance from single-ended and balanced headphones alike.
Long lasting battery
With extensive battery life, you can take it out with you all day. The hip-dac can join you at the gym first thing, take you out for lunch and keep your feet a tapping on your journey home. Enjoy high quality sound for up to 8 hours, even if you are using headphones requiring a lot of power such as the HifiMan HE-6 or as little as the Sennhesier IE-800.
The Burr-Brown True Native chipset means file formats remain unchanged. Listen to music as the artist intended in the format in which it was recorded. Listen to Master Quality Authenticated audio straight out of the box. Connect to Tidal Masters and check the option to stream MQA.
