Product Description
The iFi Audio Quasar Power Mains Cable is an entry level audiophile mains cable from iFi audio. Several technologies are used to reduce magnetic inference and noise pickup. This incudes Ground Zero. Ground Zero create a central core that carries the earth conductor. This is surrounded by two sets of Live and neutral conductors. The effect is to reduce inductance and shield the earth from interference. Moreover, that conductors are made from pure copper. This has a low resistance and good conductivity. Finally, the polymer casing is impact resistant, for durability and the connectors are gold plated.
Cable construction
Unlike conventional mains cables, that only have three conductors. The Quasar mains cable has five conductors. They are also not bunched together, as with cheaper cables. In fact, the central core carries the earth wire. Either side of this, on opposite sides, are two live wires and two neutral wires. These are spatted by an air-filled tube known as air dielectric this keeps the conductors in position. Moreover, this arrangement of wires creates a balanced cable where any noise is cancelled out. The cable is also twisted. This helps to shield EMI and RFI.
Why an audiophile mains cable?
Electromagnetic Interference and Radio Frequency Interference are present in most homes. This noise can be picked up by the mains cable that feeds your sensitive audio equipment. EMI can come from light switches as well as appliance that use a pot of current such as washing machines. While RFI comes from smartphones, Wi-Fi routers and Smart meters. All of this noise can degrade the sound.
Upgrade your system today and reduce the mushy sound, which can be caused by mains noise.
