Product Description
iFi Audio xDSD Gryphon Amplifier sets itself apart from its competitors by focusing on delivering both digital and analogue sections in one powerful yet portable device.
Wired and Wireless
iFi Audio xDSD Gryphon uses the cutting-edge QCC 5100 series Bluetooth v5.1 as the starting point for its wireless connectivity. For the wired connectivity the Gryphon uses a hybrid Burr-Brown DAC chipset, the same used in iFi’s £3,000 flagship portable amplifier, the Pro iDSD Signature.
Purewave Amplification Circuitry
The Gryphon won’t break a sweat even when driving high impedance headphones down to its whooping max 6.7v output and iFi’s PureWave amplification circuitry means it has 1,000mW at 32 Ohms, the Gryphon has enough power to drive all manner of headphones.
Tailored to Your Ears
The iFi Gryphon uses a range of tech to maximise the sound going to your ears and tailoring it to how it should sound. The XSpace adds back the cavernous sound back to stage recordings, while also using the XBass 2 to make sure that open-backed headphones don’t miss any of the bass for those songs where you want the bass to slam. The XBass 2 also allows you to add upper midrange frequencies back to your favourite recordings.
Additionally, iFi’s proprietary tech iEMatch reduces any annoying hiss from high-sensitivity headphones without losing any dynamic range. The Gryphon also allows users to choose between three bespoke digital filters using the on-screen menu each having a fine-tuning effect on sound.
OLED Screen
The Gryphons OLED display and CyberSync operating system combine to create a user interface that is enjoyable to use. The display provides all the information you will need and most importantly iFi have used their SilentLine technology to ensure the display doesn’t add noise to the system.
QCC5100 Bluetooth Processing IC
Ifi have used Qualcomm’s new QCC5100 bluetooth processing IC in the Gryphons and paired it with proprietary circuits to create a ‘Bluetooth engine’ that creates superior audio. All the current high definition Bluetooth audio formats are supported and the ‘Bluetooth engine’ can be updated wirelessly so future updates may be added.
Burr-Brown True Native Chipset
iFi Audio xDSD Gryphon DAC uses the Burr-Brown True Native chipset to ensure that you are listening to music how the artists intended by ensuring file formats remain unchanged or ‘bit-perfect’.
MQA
The xDSD Gryphon uses award-winning British technology, MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) to deliver the best audio possible. MQA delivers the sound of the original master recording and is fully authenticated and is small enough to stream or download, the Gryphon has adopted this technology to receive and decode MQA audio and provide master-level sound.
Balanced
The Gryphon uses balanced circuits, which is a superior method to the traditional single-ended circuit approach to reduce crosstalk and noise. This kind of setup is usually found in more expensive products such as the Pro iCan however iFi wants to produce the best quality audio possible in the Gryphon.
S-Balanced Technology
The S-Balanced (single-ended compatible balanced) technology is an iFi exclusive and an integral part of the xDSD Gryphon. It ensures that both single-ended and balanced headphones deliver the maximum performance possible.
Optimaloop
iFi have fine tuned the negative feedback loops in the Gryphon so the out and input signals can be corrected with higher accuracy. This incorporates multiple feedback paths instead of a global loop and each path is optimised for its particular function and withs others to deliver optimum performance.
Purewave
PureWave is a new, balanced, symmetrical dual-mono topology with short, direct signal paths. The name refers to the sonic purity it achieves thanks to exceptional linearity and infinitesimally low levels of noise and distortion.
CyberSync
CyberSync is a volume control that is software-driven that operates in the analogue domain. It provides perfect volume synchronisation between the DAC and the source and can detect which operating system it is connected to. This means that no matter what software the Gryphon is connected to the volume will be CyberSync will ensure that the Gryphons superior analogue control chip will be the one to adjust the sound. CyberSync is a software-driven volume control that operates in the analogue domain and the way it synchronises with any digital source to which the xDSD Gryphon is connected is very different.
