Product Description
JVC LX-NZ30 is a high-end DLP, 4K projector with HDR. It provides over 8-million pixels from its 0.47” chip. JVC BLU-Escent laser diodes are used as the light source. These are high brightness types with 10% more output than before.
Lamp lifespan is long, at 20,000 hours. HDR support is good with HDR10 as well as HLG supported. This means that HDR selection is automatic with no need to change settings.
Connectivity is good with support for the latest HDMI formats such as HDCP 2.3. This projector is also good for gaming with a high frame rate and low latency output.
What is DLP?
DLP (Digital Light Processing) projectors use a chip with micro-mirrors to project images. Whereas LCD projectors use a bright, metal-halide lamp, and an LCD chip. DLP projectors use a chip with 1000’s of tiny mirrors. These physically move to scan an image onto the screen. The advantage is smoother video in a smaller box. The pixels are also less visible and the contrast ratio is higher.
Refined image quality
The image has incredible brightness from the BLU-Escent laser diodes. The 3,300 lumens output provides a good picture, even when there is ambient light. Movies look stunning In HDR10, from sources such as Blu-ray discs and TV broadcasts, as well as video games. There is good 4K content on sites such as YouTube, as well as HDR content.
Great for gaming
The LX-NZ30 is a gamer's dream with high frame rate support for smooth gaming action. In fact, the LX-NZ30 can go up to 240Hz. Four times the usual rate. The frame rate is 60Hz at full 4K resolution, However, at 1080P the rate is 240Hz. Moreover, the latency is only 6.25ms. As a result, the image is lag free and effortlessly smooth. The picture is much larger than a high-end TV.
Versatile placement
LX-NX30 can also be used in confined spaces. The lens shift is 60% vertical and 23% horizontal. This allows for placing on a low table or a high shelf. There is also a good range of adjustment for keystone and warping correction. Moreover, the zoom adjustment enables you to get a 100” picture, from 3 to 4.8 metres away from a wall or screen. However, a usable image is produced at up to 200”.
Good connectivity
The LX-NZ30 has good connectivity with two HDMI sockets. One of which is HDCP 2.3 compatible. HDCP 2.3 is a copy protection system that prevents too many downstream connections. Compatible devices are needed to play HDCP encoded content. There is also a DisplayPort for connecting gaming PCs. USB connectivity is good with a Type C input as well as a Type A socket for powering USB devices. Finally, there is a trigger output for the remote control of the unit.
What is HDR and HLG
HDR stands for High Dynamic Range and refers to the difference between the darkest and lightest parts of the picture. HDR images have a wider gamut of colour and brightness. Modern display devices can go much brighter than before. However old video standards did not have the bandwidth to encode more picture information. As a result, HDR was developed. It simply uses more data, so that there are more steps between the darkest and lightest picture elements. The result is more vibrant colour and more detail in the shadows.
HLG Stands for Hybrid Log Gamma and was developed by main broadcasters such as the BBC. Basically, it combines SDR and HDR signal into one video signal. This is more convenient to broadcast and provides SDR pictures on an SDR screen and HDR pictures on an HDR screen.
