Product Description
The Matrix Audio Element X2 Pure Streamer was released to celebrate ten years of Matrix Audio products. It improves on the original X2 with dual digital to analogue converters. Each channel uses a separate ES9039PRO chip. This is the flagship DAC chip by ESS. Each chip works in mono mode. This is designed to provide an improved dynamic range and reduced distortion. Additionally, there is a wide range of digital and analogue inputs. And the MA app can be used to stream music and control the unit. The power supply and transformer have also been upgraded.
Remote control and on-screen display
A newly designed remote control comes with the Matrix Audio Element X2 Pure Streamer. This has added playback functions as well as play and pause. Two programable buttons can be set to your favourite functions. The remote also has a strong aluminium body. Next, the front of the Matrix Audio Element X2 Pure Streamer features a 3.46" LCD touchscreen. As a result, there are many ways to control the unit
The art of balance
The analogue circuits of the Matrix Audio Element X2 Pure Streamer are always kept in symmetry. This has audio benefits that reduce noise. Moreover, the analogue circuit is covered by a CNC-milled aluminium shield to prevent any interference from entering the unit. Additionally, the D/A conversion circuitry is kept separate from the analogue circuits. The ground wire is completely separated. Moreover, the power supplies use ultra-low noise regulators to ensure a high signal-to-noise ratio and a whisper-quiet background.
The MA remote app
The MA remote app can be installed on iPhone, iPad, or Android devices and acts as a control centre for your music. You can listen to local files stored on NAS or USB drives. You can also stream from remote servers using services such as Spotify or TIDAL. Moreover, hundreds of free radio stations are available online. Additionally, the MA app can be used to control the Matrix Audio Element X2 Pure Streamer. Volume can be adjusted as well as many other settings and firmware updates.
Good connectivity
The Matrix Audio Element X2 Pure Streamer features coaxial and optical digital inputs as well as an eARC-enabled HDMI socket for TV sound. There is also a USB input and an IIS/ LVDS input. Additionally, there is a line-level RCA input for CVD players and turntables with a line-level output. A trigger output is provided to automatically turn on external devices such as an amplifier. Moreover, the analogue input has three gain levels.
A high-quality preamp
A built-in preamp is provided with the Matrix Audio Element X2 Pure Streamer. This has a gain of 10dB and can drive most amplifiers without the need for a separate preamp. Additionally, it uses ultra-low noise low distortion components for a sweet and clear sound. Notably, Asynch and Synch modes are available for connected digital devices. In Async mode, the DAC chips use the built-in Crystek CCHD950 ultra-low phase noise femtosecond clock. This provides a low-jitter, very accurate signal. On the other hand, the connected device clock can be used in synch mode. This ensures maximum compatibility with devices.
Build quality
Audio-grade capacitors are used throughout the Matrix Audio Element X2 Pure Streamer. Nichicon KG series capacitors are used as filter capacitors. These have a long life as well as a low ESR and inductance. As a result, they are capable of providing a large dynamic range. Additionally, the latest version of the X2 uses a new O-core toroidal transformer. This has silver-plated output wires and Teflon insulation. This increases the efficiency and response speed of the unit.
