Product Description
Mission LX3 MKII is a mid-sized bookshelf/stand mount speaker that’s apart of the upgraded MKII series. Originally the MkII series comprised on only two stand mount speakers, now there are three!
Like the rest of the MkII models the LX3 MKII has been designed with all the same technology based on the QX range and Mission’s flagship ZX range. It’s the biggest bookshelf speaker in the LX MKII range and packs a punch for the price.
Flipped Driver
The LX3 MkII is fitted with drivers with surrounds that use a similar ‘comb-tooth serrations’ found on the brand’s higher-end QX and ZX ranges. The addition of this technology helps ‘scatter interfering reflections’, which result in a smoother frequency response than the previous MKI models.
The woofer is a 6.5 inches and made of composite fibre, it produces a powerful low end for the size. This is combined with a newly designed 25mm microfibre dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet, which is said to sound more ‘crisp and detailed’.
LX3 Mk2
The IDG (inverted driver geometry) design flips the tweeter and the woofer positions so they’re ‘upside down’. The idea of this is to keep the high frequencies at ear height when listening on desktops. At ear height the length of low/high frequency’s path is equalized so the sound waves coincide at the listener’s head height, which improves ‘time alignment’ and therefore a more transient performance.
The Look
The LX3 MKII comes in three colours, Walnut Pearl, Lux Black and Lux White. These stylish finishes were all chosen by Mission in their attempt to fuse Hi-Fi heritage with contemporary design. All of the LX Mk2 range comes in the same finishes, so any additions to your system will perfectly match.
