Product Description
Ortofon’s Super OM5E is a MM phono cartridge with elliptical diamond stylus. It is the highest spec’d cartridge in the Om5 series due to the style of stylus and improved technology. The Super OM5e is extremely compatible with most tonearms and has styli replacement options if damaged.
Why the Super OM5e?
The Super OM5E has an improved linearity, higher channel separation and reduced distortion, by using computer simulations to help define the natural pivot point system with better accuracy. An extended frequency range is made possible due to the cartridge's split hole pins that reduce magnetic losses at the treble end.
Elliptical Diamond Styli
The Super OM-5E has an elliptical diamond stylus that provides balanced and distortion-free playback. Elliptical diamonds are able to make contact with a larger groove area upon a record’s surface more accurately than spherical diamonds due to their contoured shape. This results in better tracking, frequency response and less distortion.
Styli Replacement
Rather than replacing the whole cartridge, Ortofon have provided users the possibility to replace just the stylus if damaged. Super-Om5e is compatible with a number of stylus upgrade options, including the Stylus 5E, Stylus 10, Stylus 20, Stylus 30, Stylus 40 and the 78 RPM Stylus 78.
Super OM5e Lightweight build
The Om5 series is Ortofon's lowest mass range of moving-magnet cartridges. The body of Super-OM5e cartridge is made from Noryl (plastic & glass compound), which ensures high rigidity and freedom from resonances.
Compatibility
Ortofon's Super Om5e cartridge has been designed to provide easy mounting and alignment on both top mount and bottom mount head shells. It also benefits from a tiny, removable weight above the mounting bracket. For standard tonearms, you leave the weight in place as usual. For low-mass tonearms, you have the ability to remove the weight, reducing the cartridge weigh to just 2.5g.
