Oyaide BR-12 Turntable Mat incorporates a Strobo disc and overhang gauge and the design features an elevated taper of 1 degree from centre to perimeter as well as 5mm thickness that fixes warpage in vinyl disc's caused by the rubber sheet tightly sticking to it.
Stylus movement
Stylus movement is consequently able to stabilise in order to trace the groove. The tapered sheet incorporates 18 tuning holes contributing more to improving sound quality. The holes also offer a finger rest when removing 10" or EP discs. The 294mm diameter makes it easy to pick up 300mm LP disc
Oyaide Designs
“MJ-12” aluminum turntable mat has great aesthetic appeal and pairing with BR-ONE butyl rubber 1mm thin turntable mat reinforces performance. For better vibration suppresion, Oyaide found tungsten was a sound quality enhancing material while MJ-12's tapered shape and tuning hole layout pattern was effective with rubber material.
Oyaide considered all of this in the development of the new BR-12 turntable sheet. With high-friction butyl rubber, it has remarkable grip and contact with vinyl discs to avoid slip even when used with a high pressure stylus.
