Panasonic is a Japanese electronics manufacturer with a century of experience creating AV products worldwide. The range includes DVD and Blu-ray Disc recorders and players, projectors, CD players, stereo equipment and electronic components.

The Panasonic brand was founded by Matsushita in 1955 for the US region. The name was created from the elements "Pan" and “Sonic” meaning all and sound respectively as it initially focused solely on audio equipment. In 2008, the "Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd" brand which had been used in Japan for non-AV products was phased out and changed to Panasonic Corporation.

The slogan ‘A better life, A better world’ expresses the brand promise and vision of expanding and pursuing a better life for each customer while preserving the "consumer electronics DNA" of being close to customers' lives. Panasonic recognises that in order to achieve this aim, they need to constantly evolve with the times and needs of individuals.

In 2018, the Panasonic Corporation is celebrating its centennial anniversary; a hundred years of ‘contributions to the progress of society and the well-being of people’ which they aim to carry forward as they move into their second century.
