    Product Description

The PliXir Elite BDC Melco stack is designed to provide clean and noise free power to the Melco precision optical drive as well as the E100 audiophile hard drive. The BDC stack comprises 2 x 12v DC power supplies that are part of the PliXiR balanced power supply eco system. They feature two stage rectification and very low noise. Improve the performance of your Melco equipment with a high-end power supply. It is recommended that your other audio equipment should also be connected to PliXiR mains conditioners to maintain a balanced system.

    Unparalleled noise performance

These stackable upgraded power supplies, from PliXiR can provide high-end power conditioning and performance. They are designed to feature balanced power transformers that reduces ground loop current for noise and hum free audio. The casing is made from thick extruded aluminium that is CNC machined, into a strong, shielded enclosure. This ultra-rigid casing is manufactured to prevent mechanical vibration, as well as protect the transformer. Moreover only premium components are used and all wiring is point-to-point with soldered joints. Aa result there are no screwed connections to come loose. Finally the cabling is made of high-purity copper.

    A balanced eco system.

Balanced power can only be obtained if every part of the power delivery system is balanced. Consequently PliXiR have developed a range of power conditioners and power supply units that fulfil this need. This is the world’s first balanced power delivery system. It is designed so that noise is rejected right up to your audio equipment. More on why this matters below.

The problem with cheap power supplies

Most cheap plugin power supplies are switch mode based. These are cheap to produce but can create lot of electrical noise, that can get into the mains wiring of a house, as well as the powered equipment. SMPS use a high frequency switching signal, and need to be enclosed in a metal shield to prevent radiation. Improved power supplies are linear in nature but these are also often not optimised for noise performance. The diode bridge rectifier can generate noise and it will get worse as the load increases.

    A power supply solution.

To solve these problems PliXiR have created a two step regulation process. The first stage uses an open loop, discrete transistor, class A filter stage, to remove any noise. This is known as a pre-regulator. It also takes some of the work away from the next stage. The second stage uses closed loop regulation, this has an excellent slew rate. In other words a sudden demand for more current does not result in a drop in voltage. This arrangement means that noise is not allowed to either contaminate the mains, or get into the supplied equipment.

    Power conditioners

It is likely that you also have audio equipment in use, that does not use an external power source. This would include an amplifier and possibly a streamer. As mentioned earlier all the audio equipment needs to be connected to a balanced power delivery system. As a result PliXiR also make a range of mains conditioners, that are isolated from the mains earth. They can power from two, to eight output devices. You just plug all your audio gear into these, instead of directly into a mains socket.

    Why power conditioners?

The mains supply in a house is often contaminated by noise. This comes from outside as well as from inside. There are many domestic appliances that introduce switching and high frequency noise into the earth system of a house. There is also air-borne interference such as Wi-Fi signals that can often be heard on poorly electrically balanced equipment. PliXiR conditioners use precision wound isolation transformers that can naturally eliminate noise.
