Designed by audio engineering expert Bascom H.King, this pre-amp employs components with the goal of a superior sonic performance. The BHK Signature pre-amp uses a vacuum tube input stage found by Bascom to be more musically accurate and convincing then any other input configurations.

Zero Loss Vacuum Tube Input Stage

The BHK Signature preamplifier features two hand selected 12AU7 dual triode vacuum tubes which provide the unit's gain. The two vacuum tubes perform as a zero feedback balanced input amplification pair. These tubes are fed by MOSFET's and the filament voltage is supplied from an independent regulated power supply for a clean source of free flowing electrons.

Balance and Single Ended Outputs

The vacuum tube input stage remains balanced no matter what input is used. The single ended RCA inputs or balanced XLR inputs are immediately converted to a pure balanced signal by the vacuum tube stage for the lowest distortion and maximum linearity performance.

Controlling the Volume

Volume control is a critical task for pre-amplifiers. Resolution perfect volume and balance control is achieved in the BHK Signature with an input stepped attenuator and switched gain adjustment. This combination means volume can be controlled in half dB steps for the cleanest, lowest impact gain control. What this achieves in a musical presentation defined by openness and sonic transparency.

MOSFET Based Regulator

MOSFET based discrete regulators are fed by a high current oversized toroidal analog transformer. An oversized power supply is critical to the performance of your audio equipment, and as is keeping the impedance low. These high voltage regulators are the product of years of meticulous research and listening tests to find the greatest sounding architecture. 

Headphone Amplifier

Incorporated within the PS Audio BHK Signature pre amplifier is a high spec, zero feedback headphone amplifier. It's able to get the best out of any high-end headphone, ensuring a sound performance that is near perfect. The internal headphone amplifier is just another feature alongside the zero-loss vacuum tube low impedance transformer coupled MOSFET and discrete voltage regulators.
