Product Description
The Puritan Audio Classic Mains Cable is the entry level mains cable in the Puritan range. Puritan Classic audio mains cables, use specially developed sheath insulation. This is used for both the conductor and outer insulation. It is made of a type of extremely soft and flexible plastic that is optimised to absorb vibration. Moreover, there is an anti-friction compound around the conductors to aid flexibility. The aim is to reduce noise pickup and vibration. Any noise is dissipated as heat or shorted to earth. The plugs and connectors are also the best possible quality. The Puritan audio mains lead range, includes the classic, Plus and Ultimate leads.
Conductors
Copper is thought to the best conductor for mains cables, it is only slightly less conductive than silver. Moreover, Silver provided no audible benefit during tests. Puritan also tested many gauges of wire before selecting 15AWG stranded conductors. The Puritan Classic mains cable is rated at 28 Amps. The flexibility of a cable is thought to be important when it comes to vibration pickup. As is the amount of twist on the conductors. The theory is that the room will be filled with music. and this can vibrate the cable interfering with the sound.
Top quality plugs
The outer sheath is made of a soft and durable fabric that covers a carbon-polymer nanotechnology barrier. The barrier provides a resistive shield, to block noise pickup. Additionally, the connectors are of a very high quality.
