Product Description
Quad Artera Stereo Power amplifier is designed to complement the Artera Play and effortlessly drives first-class loudspeakers using patented Current Dumping technology.
Artera Stereo is engineered from the ground up to ensure power, musicality and stability. This sleek silver finish is sure to add a touch of contemporary class to your listening room.
Legendary Sound
Quad Artera’s approach to Hi-Fi design sets it in a league of its own as it strives to achieve legendary sound as close as possible to the original recording which is highlighted by the brand’s motto. The result is class-leading products that bring astounding realism to your music usually only possible by being present at the original recording.
Future Proof
Artera references Quad’s manufacturing heritage dating to 1936. It leverages the patented 'current dumping' technology, first demonstrated in the renowned 405, for Class A sound with a huge and fully stable power output. This entirely fresh design stays true to tradition and functionality.
Textured aluminium front panels, thick glass top and CNC routed heatsinks on either side create a striking and robust appearance that also effectively deters unwanted interference. Quick access to your music library is provided via an ultra-intuitive touch-sensitive control.
Audiophile Grade
Each element, from transformer to terminals, is contrived with power, melody and stability in mind. Artera Stereo produces 140 Watts RMS per channel, allowing it to unwaveringly drive first-class loudspeakers even under high dynamic and transient conditions.
Special attention is also paid to the newly developed balanced XLR inputs. These robust connections give Artera Stereo an incomparable signal to noise ratio.
HD Playback
Artera Stereo flawlessly complements the aural pragmatism and authority of Artera Play. Designed for simplest operation, it has an ultra-sleek build hiding a wealth of technology. Artera Stereo features a fully capable
Digital/Analogue preamp that plays up to 32bit/384kHz ultra high res and DSD files via USB. A new slot-loading CD mechanism buffers data read from the disc before feeding it asynchronously, for minimum jitter, to the powerful ESS9018 8 channel DAC chip.
Current Dumping
Artera Stereo incorporates patented current dumping technology developed by founder Peter Walker. One of few truly innovative amplifier topologies, it essentially combines two amplifiers for the best of Class A and Class B operation.
A low power class A amplifier refines the music signal while a high-power section adds grip for speaker control. Combined via a precision bridge network, these work to impose clarity and musicality of the class A output onto the power of the current dumper.

The Artera power amp is astonishing in it's performance. Partners my Artera Pre for a low noise pre/power amplifier that has excellent 'hear-through' clarity, without any emphasis on any part of the audio spectrum. Unlike previous 'current dumpers' from Quad, there is terrific bass extension (which doesn't mean overblown bass) giving complete realism to it's musical presentation. It's built well, but with not particularly high quality connectors, which work fine though. Quad has spent money on the internal performance rather than the rear panel looks. XLR connectors are included for low noise balanced connections. I am so happy with the Artera's performance, it is a perfect amp for me, driving my PMC speakers with astonishing ability.
