Product Description
Roon Nucleus Plus music sever incorporates an upgraded i7 processor and double the RAM of the standard Nucleus. Housed in a visually aesthetic case, it also has 128Gb OS SSD running Roon’s bespoke operating system. Point it at a NAS, hook in a USB hard drive or install an SSD/HDD to its internals.
New Revised Model
Nucleus Plus retains the specs and passive cooling system of the original model but has a wider, deeper and shallower chassis. Other revisions include a second HDMI output and internal layout which now supports SATA drives up to 15mm deep instead of 9mm drives as before. Roon Nucleus is now also supplied in eco-friendly packaging.
Music Server
For audio playback, just connect a USB DAC or stream to any of the huge family of network players supported by Roon, including Roon Ready, Sonos, Airplay, Devialet AIR, Meridian and Squeezebox. Roon is constructed differently to most audio systems out there and consists of a single core along with as many controls and outputs as you could need. You get the same Roon experience whether you're running on a single PC or on devices around your home.
Roon Compatible
Roon Nucleus is the brains behind the operation and manages your music collection, it builds an interconnected digital library using enhanced information from Roon. You can browse and play music with Roon apps on all your devices whether its a Mac, Windows, iPad, iPhone, and Android devices.
Roon streams to all the audio gear you have and makes it all play nice together. Designed to work with products from the manufacturers you trust, Roon has over 60 partner brands now work with Roon and the list is growing every day.
Intel Partnership
Developed in partnership with Intel, Roon Labs have launched a brand new hardware product called the Nucleus. Roon built a custom based operating system around the Intel NUC board. Nucleus runs without a fan and is housed in a special casing enabling positioning with hi-fi equipment if USB connection is required for the DAC.
Nucleus sits on your network acting as a Roon Server/Core for your NAS- or USB drive-based music library and Tidal making both available to any and every Roon endpoint you have.
SSD or HDD Drive
Roon Core boots up in just 1.8 seconds and there are two variants; i3 or i7 to choose from both with an integral SSD for the operating system with an option to add an SSD or HDD hard drive. You can also choose to connect via USB or NAS music storage and the HDMI output supports multichannel playback functioning with any network Roon Ready device. A 19V linear power supply is also available as an optional upgrade.
Nucleus or Nucleus+?
Both the Nucleus and Nucleus+ servers look and function in exactly the same way. Their difference is primarily down to the Intel® processor used in each model, which shifts their speed and workload capacity. The standard Nucleus is suited to smaller multi-room environments, or for installations where complex DSP processing is not required. It's also suited to smaller library sizes. Nucleus+ is the more advanced solution, for complex or high-end environments and for lightning-fast handling of larger music libraries.

well it`s boring! it just sits there unobtrusive, totally silent. that is until you pick out an album to play. playback is as good as anything you`ll ever hear. like i say, totally silent. it barely feels warm to the touch. i usually leave mine powered up unless i have a busy week and know i wont get much chance to use it. for me this has been a good buy. love the roon software too
